This island has a really nice high gloss finish and ships well protected. It's heavy stuff—came in two boxes over 100lbs each. Assembly took me a while, so I spread it across two days with a couple hours of work each time. If you've put together IKEA stuff before you can handle this, just budget 4-5 hours. Could take longer without power tools. Everything fits together nicely. I went ahead and added wood glue to the drawer rails and screws to make sure it lasts.
