Awesome awesome awesome, love it!

This mattress is one of my all time best buys on Hawkins Woodshop! I am very picky about my mattress, it took me several years and 3-4 different ones before I realized that Memory Foam works best for my spine with no discs left, they've all dried up from arthritis (Degenerative Disc Disease). I slept on a regular Memory Foam mattress for about 4 years and loved it. Then I heard about gel with Memory Foam and wanted to get one but they were outrageously priced in stores, so I waited a while. I ended up divorced and moving into a new place and bought all new furniture, so decided to look on Hawkins Woodshop for a mattress and box spring. It took me a few days of searching and decided this one was the best buy, and wow am I glad I bought it! I have been sleeping on it for about 10 days and not one time have I awakened in the middle of the night. It is a little more firm than I normally prefer, but its a miracle that I can actually lay flat on my back, fall asleep immediately and not wake up until the alarm clock goes off. I have arthritis in every single joint in my body, and this mattress seems to support them all. In addition, I no longer turn from side to side, and I no longer get night sweats. I was concerned about the gel being too cool for arthritis since moist heat is what helps my pain the most. But the gel has not bothered my arthritis. The mattress was easy to open, it was vacuum packed, wrapped and shipped in a cardboard box. I had to get help to lift it up onto the bed andonce I cut off the plastic it immediately started growing, pretty entertaining! It grew a lot faster than my original Memory Foam mattress, this one seemed to reach full thickness in less than one hour, so I went ahead and put on all bedding. The cover is very nice and soft, looks just like the expensive bed on a t. V. Ad, it has a cozy raised orange peel design in the material on top, and the bottom part is grey. The cover is zippered for washing. Please take note that this mattress is 12 twelve inches thick, which is a huge upgrade. I have a 9 inch box spring since I like a higher bed. You can pair this with a lower profile box spring if you like your bed lower, or you can also use it on a platform bed. I could not be happier with this mattress, and I am telling everyone I know about my purchase! Where else can you buy such a nice mattress for $300-$400!? But don't let the price fool you, its a great investment. I am posting 2 photos, both the grey and the off white portions are the mattress/cover, the grey that you see is the bottom part of the cover. The bed photo shows how high it is, but some of the height is due to the bedroom sets frame, its about 2-3 inches higher than your average frame.

The One!

After weeks of research including mattress store visits, finally took the chance and ordered the cb 12" Cool Gel Memory foam King Size. Having been a 'box spring & coil mattress guy my 60+ years' I was easy prey for the store sales guys, yet I resisted the easy path of plunking down $3 ~ $4 grand and after reading volumes of comparative details and thousands of reviews, would up here. For about 1/10th the cost it was well worth the risk. I even called Classic Brands cust svc and chatted about what to expect between this & the hybrid model that's near the same price. My head just can't wrap itself around a brutally squished up bunch of springs and foam popping up to a sturdy full size without any long term effect on those springs turning mushy over time, but I can better imagine how squished up foam by itself can possibly be reformed to a strong enough support. My ups guy had never delivered one of these before and he's real interested in what we think after installed. The two of us pretty good sized guys wrestled the very heavy, pretty beat up, nasty, dirty box into the house together without any serious injury. After that, and much room prep + new platform bed set up, I managed to push the box across wood floors into the bedroom myself, carefully knifed away the mangled box, keeping the inner plastic cover intact, then wrestled / rolled the behemoth up onto the platform and into position for the grand opening. Carefully sliced through the cover while watching the mattress come to life and expand rapidly while it rolled itself out nicely onto the bed frame. About 30 seconds into it, I realized it was upside down and fast, drastic action was in order. I had my dainty wife push against the bottom of one side while I flipped my side up and over (thankfully it wasn't far from the wall on her side), then dashed around and re-slide the beast onto the bed once again, this time the correct side up. We were prepared to let it expand over night, but it was already fully expanded to it's 12" size within a couple hours, so we gave it a whirl the first night. As many other reviewers noted, it's firm, yet also plush at the same time. Medium/firm is what I'd call it. I sink in slightly, enough to make my back feel somewhat cocooned, but it's effortless to roll onto my side as well. I've been a 'firm' mattress mostly side sleeper guy forever, but this mattress actually lets me sleep very well on my back or side as I feel like. I know I'm changing position a lot less and when I do, the wife doesn't notice at all. We're both sleeping a lot sounder now, want to stay in bed longer when waking up as it feels so good and the occasional tango between the sheets has not been diminished in any way :-). Also, there's no heat issue for me, maybe even cooler for me than the past spring coil mattress. A tiny con may be that the edge is not as rigid as my past mattress, so it's less comfy to sit on the edge to put on your socks as you do dip down a bit, but that's no prob for us as we've switched to the foot of the bed for that where there's extra support platform from the frame that makes sock activity very easy. Perhaps these are not for everyone, but I'm 100% sold, as is the wife. Best mattress purchase ever for us at an amazingly low cost compared to the stores

Awesome mattress!!

I have fibromyalgia and am in constant pain. Trying to sleep for the last two years has been a joke because I'm in too much pain to lay down, as putting pressure on my body/torso is so painful it hurts to breathe (literally, not an exaggeration). I finally got so that the *only* way I could sleep was on the couch with nine (!) pillows prompting me in a sitting position. I did this for months. Last summer, we went to a furniture store that had a gel-memory foam bed. My husband and I tried lying on it and it felt so good! However, it provoked all kinds of questions: Would it feel good long-term: days, weeks, months? Or would it be a short-term kind of thing? The store wanted $1k doe it, which we laughed at. We certainly cannot afford that! I did some research on the internet and came across this bed. I read oodles of the reviews and most of them really recommended it for folks with high pain. The return policy looked like it was good and there were some who'd returned it successfully. The price was right. And I was desperate to sleep like a *normal* human being! We nervously bought the bed in hopes that it would work. We read the chart that recommended this one for folks who like a firm bed, but yet it was still soft. I like a 'jello' bed; soft enough to let my body fall into it and it molds around me. My husband likes firm. Not exactly compatible! ;) This bed seemed like a good compromise. In the description, it says it can take several months, but no one commented on that and we were sure if that was really the case, someone would have said something. I think it was about two weeks. Not bad at all. We read that you kinda need to make sure that everything is situated before opening the box because it's hard to work with (heavy / awkward), which we did. We slept on it the first night and it didn't feel right. We were kinda disappointed. It looked like it was fully inflated too. We slept on the second night and it was sooo much better! I guess even though it *looked* fully inflated the first night, it wasn't. Side note: It fit right over the top of our regular box springs. We just used the old ones from other previous bed. Lots of people commented on the smell and others said it wasn't a big deal. We are highly sensitive to smells, so keep that in mind when you read this part. :) At first, it wasn't bad. As it inflated and by the second night, it was very strong. For the first two weeks, we had to pull off all the sheets / covers and let it air out before we could go to bed and not be bothered by the smell. Again, we are super sensitive, so many may not find this an issue! It's now been about five months since our purchase. I have slept like a *normal* human being each night, lying fully on my torso. My husband, who likes a firm mattress, says it's a little too firm for him. For me too. Ideally, I'd want it softer. But it's such a huge step from where I was to here, I'll take it! :)My 10 year old loves to come in and lay on the mattress. In her words: 'It feels like heaven!' It really does. Well worth the investment. We'd like to get one of each of our kids too. It has improved our sleep so much.

Great after Five Years!

We have had this bed for 5 years and it is still a great purchase! We use it in our guest room and everyone who has stayed with us has commented on how incredibly comfortable it is. In fact several of our friends have needed to replace a bed and asked for the link and ordered one for themselves!! 100 percent recommend!!

You need this mattress!!!

Let me start this review by saying a few things about my self. I am a woman on the heavy side with bulging discs in my low back, and neck damage from a car accident 12 years ago that caused some nerve damage too. For my whole life i have slept on spring mattresses, and for the last 12 years i have not slept well. I would wake up 3 or more times a night in pain, or with numbness and tingling. I bought the Classic Brands Cool Gel Memory Foam mattress in the queen size. I never thought I'd be able to afford a good memory foam mattress, but it is quite affordable. I priced regular mattresses at discount clubs, and this one was less money. It is easy to unpack, though if you have a bad back i do suggest getting a little help so you dont strain your self, it is heavy and awkward to pick up. They say to allow quite a few hours to inflate, but mine inflated within minutes. If you are placing the mattress on a box spring I do recommend a piece of plywood for the middle of the box spring so it does not droop. My chiropractor suggested this as he has been sleeping on a memory foam for some time. Some people do complain of an odor, but I barely smelt it. I have allergies too many chemical sents and can't even be around many industrial cleaners, but this bed did not trigger an allergic reaction. I did leave my room to air out for the day before I slept on it, just in case, but even as I was unpacking it there was barely a new car smell. Now on to the good part of the review; I have been sleeping on this mattress for only two nights and they have been the best two nights of sleep I've had in 12 years. I slept like a rock both nights without getting up once. On my old mattresses I would toss and turn so badly that I would pull off the fitted sheets every night even with the elastic clips that are supposed to hold them on. I have not tossed once since being on this mattress. It is firm, but still forms to my body just the way I need it. And no matter if I sleep on my side or my back I have not had neuropathy these past two nights, which is a huge deal for me. I'm so grateful that I bought this mattress, it is worth it not to be in pain. As far as the cooling gel, it is not as cold as I'd hoped, but I'm also not overheating. I throw off a lot of heat when I sleep in my old mattress would always throw it right back at me, this one is not. All in all this is the best purchase I've made so far this year.

It is now 6 weeks after purchasing the king sized 12” firm memory foam mattress and I am still in love with it as much as the first night I...

I felt I absolutely had to write a review because I was so leery about purchasing a mattress online. It took me so long to pick out a mattress and even longer to finally take the plunge. I also wanted to make sure I waited a bit before writing this so as to let the honeymoon phase sort-of-speak wear off and also so I can give my body (and my husband’s) enough time to adjust so I can give a more accurate review. It is now 6 weeks after purchasing the king sized 12” firm memory foam mattress and I am still in love with it as much as the first night I slept on it. I was hesitant to buy it because I was afraid it might be too firm. I was afraid my husband, who already is a hot sleeper, would be sweating at night. I was afraid it would possibly make my back problems and my husband’s neck problems worse. I was afraid it wouldn’t expand to the size it said it would or expand unevenly. All of my fears were proven wrong. Yes, this mattress is firm, but more so in a supportive sense. It does have give and sinks in a few to several inches depending on the area of the body you measure, but the deeper foam stays firm and gives support. My mother laid on it and said it was too firm for her, however, two weeks later she slept on the kitchen-table-made-bed in our camper and said she slept very well. I told her that if she could sleep on that bed, which is basically two inches of foam on a table top, then our mattress should seem like sleeping on a cloud to her. I am still trying to convince her to at least take a nap on it to try it out because she is in desperate need on a new mattress. (Once she does, I’ll update this review). I weigh 120lbs and am 5’4”. My husband is 6’1” and weighs 200lbs. We sleep equally as well on it. Not only for firmness, but also when gauging the heat factor. There were slight adjustments needed to be made to adjust to the heat difference, but they were few and minor. For instance, I normally slept with the comforter up to my neck. I had to adjust to sleeping with it tucked under my arm. My husband, surprisingly enough, didn’t feel much of a difference. Something to note though is that I bought a waterproof mattress cover from Walmart and I found that helped with the heat “issue.” About two weeks after purchasing the mattress I decided to get a mattress cover since my 2 year old who was being potty trained slept in bed with us sometimes. So I had the experience of sleeping without the cover and then with it and noticed that after putting the cover on I was waking up with the blankets up to my neck again. So I guess the mattress cover helped regulate the temperature issue, as minor as it was. My husband and I occasionally deal with neck and back issues. Our old mattress was unbearable to sleep on when these problems would flare up. Furthermore, I would wake up stiff and sore many times. Sleeping on this new mattress has completely changed that for me, and my husband, while still dealing with neck problems from time to time, can at least sleep in bed more comfortably while dealing with them. Lastly, was my worry about the mattress feeling/acting cheap by not expanding and just plain feeling cheap. We gave it the recommended time for expanding (even though it fully expanded within the first few hours, corners and all) and don’t feel it has caved at all since we’ve started sleeping on it. This is something else I will report on as time goes on. The mattress also has a nice feeling fabric covering it, not noisy or cheap feeling. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this mattress and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a firm mattress. I regret having waited so long to try it out.
