Medium firm but not uncomfortable for side sleepers. The edges are soft so sitting on the edge of the bed is an issue, feels like your falling off it. Came in a 12" by 12" by 7' box but weighed 70 pounds. Unfolded quickly expanding to almost full size. No smell that I noticed, which is good since I'm sensitive to smells.
