Most over the door racks are built narrow and stop there. This one is 22.5 inches wide, roughly 42 percent wider than the typical door shoe rack, and that extra width is what takes it from holding a handful of pairs to holding 20 to 30. Full dimensions are 73 inches high, 22.5 inches wide, and 10 inches deep, so it runs most of the height of a standard interior door.
There are 20 large pockets across 10 tiers, and large is the operative word. Plenty of hanging organizers only fit flats and low sneakers, so a men's size 12 or a pair of ankle boots never goes in. These take men's sneakers, women's boots, high heels, and kids' shoes, which is what makes it workable for a whole family sharing one closet rather than one person's collection.
The pockets are transparent PVC with a clear side window, so you can see what is in each one without pulling shoes out to check. That sounds like a small thing until you are hunting for the other black boot on a weekday morning. The body is non-woven fabric, which breathes, so shoes air out in the pocket instead of sitting sealed in and turning the closet stale.
Four heavy duty metal hooks hang it over the door and are rated to support up to 80 pounds. Thirty pairs of shoes adds up faster than people expect, and that rating is the difference between an organizer that stays put and one that peels off the door in the middle of the night. It goes over a closet door, a bedroom door, an entryway door, or a laundry room door, whichever has the traffic.
Once it is hanging, the closet floor comes back. That is the real return here, especially in an apartment or a small bedroom where there is no room for a floor rack and no space by the front door for a shoe cabinet.
