Great Desk with No Wobble
I got my desk pretty quickly, even a day early! I took it to work and set it up by myself in about an hour and 15 minutes, but it would definitely go faster with someone helping out. Everything you need is there, and there are even some extra parts. The desk top comes in two pieces. Most screws go in with an Allen wrench, and I just used a small star screwdriver for the keypad. There are four height presets, which are more than enough for me, and it adjusts from 69 to 114 in height. I got the 48” version, and it’s for my setup with two monitors. It’s steady, no wobbling at all! The instructions were clear, but just a tip: don’t screw everything in tightly until all the screws are started. The legs are a bit wobbly at first since they’re top-heavy, but once you get through the tough part, it’s smooth sailing. I liked that I could decide where to put the basket and hooks after I assembled it; I prefer my basket at the back to keep my purse nearby. I was worried about the price being under $200, thinking it might feel cheap, but it’s actually great. Just a heads up, you do need to plug it in to use it, but that wasn’t a big deal for me. There’s plenty of styrofoam for protection during shipping—just be ready for a bit of a mess when you unpack! Overall, I’m happy with my purchase and thankful for the other reviews that helped me decide. If you’re considering this desk, go for it!

Fantastic desk - easy to put together
I've only had the desk for a day, but I'm really happy with it. Here’s what I found: 1. It was easy to put together. The instructions were top-notch. Every piece had a letter sticker, and the hardware was in labeled bags. There were also large diagrams showing which parts to use at each step. The whole assembly was well planned out. The kit includes two hex wrenches, but bring your own Phillips screwdriver. A tip: start all the screws loosely. This lets you wiggle the pieces a bit to align everything better. 2. It weighs around 65 pounds and feels solid. Once it was all put together, there wasn’t any wobble. Just make sure to tighten the screws well. 3. The lowest height is 27 3/4 inches and the highest is 45 1/2 inches. It’s close to the measurements listed. I wish it could go down one more inch, but it still works. 4. The buttons for height memory are easy to use, and the instructions are clear. 5. The price is. This desk isn’t quite as nice as the one I have at work, but it’s about half the price. 6. I got the Maple and white finish, and it looks just like the photo. Attractive! 7. I didn’t notice any issues with fit or finish. The desktop comes in two pieces which leaves a bit of a seam, but it’s smooth and doesn’t bother me. No nicks or imperfections either. Overall, it's a great desk. I've seen some reviews about trouble with the electronics, but so far, mine is working well.

I'm super impressed with this desk given the price point. It's cheaper than what you'd find at IKEA, but the quality is quite comparable. In fact, I think the height controller is even better than IKEA's. The way it was packaged and the assembly instructions were clear and helpful. The desk feels sturdy enough for everyday use and the memory height settings are a nice touch—having up to four height options at the push of a button is pretty convenient. One minor drawback is that it has two panels for the work surface. They're joined with dowels and held together by side brackets, so the center isn’t as strong if you're using something like a monitor arm. But for regular use with a monitor and other stuff, it works perfectly fine. It's easy to draw a comparison with IKEA since they’re popular for these kinds of desks. The SHW desk costs about half of what you’d pay at IKEA, but you’re not sacrificing much in terms of quality. Overall, I'm satisfied with my purchase!

I picked this desk up for $250 in May 2023, and honestly, it's one of the best things I've ever bought from Hawkins Woodshop. Now, it’s even priced at $200! First off, don't let the two-piece surface discourage you. This desk is incredibly sturdy and stable. The top is scratch-resistant, so you don’t have to worry about writing too hard and leaving marks. The split surface allows for easier shipping, but the seam is positioned in a way that you’ll hardly notice it—it's about 18.75 inches from the front. If you’re planning on doing a lot of large paper-based art, the seam could potentially leave indentations if you press too hard, but it hasn’t been a problem for me at all. If you're using a computer like I am, the quality and price can't be beaten. Other desks of lesser quality can cost almost twice as much! The stability is impressive—definitely better and cheaper than IKEA, and honestly, it feels just as solid as the veridesk standing desk at my office. I’m 5'10”, and even at its highest setting, it’s still a bit too high for me. I’ve been using it for a year, raising and lowering it 5-6 days a week without any issues. I do my cardio in the mornings and typically stand until lunch and then sit in the afternoon. No problems! Assembly was straightforward, just be cautious not to over-tighten screws, or it could bow the surface. Once you get them all placed, tighten them carefully. It offers a great workspace, and the cherry red finish looks. It was a good deal even when I bought it for more. Whoever designed this deserves kudos, and Colby at Hawkins Woodshop deserves a high five!
