Great sturdy foundation for my antique bed!
I picked this 5" foundation for my antique full-size bed frame, which is slightly smaller than standard beds. I swapped out the original side rails to fit a modern mattress since they were almost 2" shorter than the ones we use now and I hoped this foundation would work width-wise. It arrived in a durable box and once I laid out everything, putting it together was pretty easy. It took about 30 minutes since the double frame was already mostly assembled in four sections, just needed to unfold and bolt it together. After loosely connecting all the parts with the provided bolts and nuts, I tightened everything, and it ended up being surprisingly sturdy. I did notice a slight sag in the middle at the joint, but I made a wooden prop to place underneath and that fixed it. I need a flat surface for my mattress due to back issues, which is why I went with this. There's also a nice non-slip cover included. After assembling, I added four slats to the bed, dropped the frame in, and it fit my old bed perfectly. It's solid, makes no noise, and I'm happy with my decision. Plus, air circulation is much better now compared to the plywood I had before. The 5" height is just right for my 10" mattress—it's neither too high nor too low. This was a great investment and should hold up for years to come. Finding a proper box spring that isn’t too high for an old antique bed can be tough, but this has worked out wonderfully.
