Honestly love it
I have a decent amount of DIY skills, so I found this project pretty enjoyable. The instructions could be clearer; I often had to glance ahead to see how things would line up later. But everything fit together just fine in the end. The desk's height and size are perfect for me—spacious and comfortable. It's solid, but be prepared for some effort with the L-wrench; tightening those corner sockets can take a bit of back-and-forth. The only real downside was getting confused sometimes about how to position the pieces based on the instructions. Plus, there were a couple of pieces that were labeled incorrectly, but I just swapped them around during assembly and had no issues. I built both items solo in about 5 hours total, as they arrived on different days. If you plan to do this alone, it’s helpful to have something adjustable to help balance and level the parts.

I just finished putting together my new desk, and I couldn't be happier. This is my first desk purchase, so I spent a lot of time researching and comparing different options, considering how I wanted to use it, the features I needed, the style I liked, and most importantly, the cost. It was a significant investment for me, and I wanted to make sure I picked the best quality for my budget. Initially, I was set on a different L-desk with a hutch, but then I found this one from Hawkins Woodshop. It caught me off guard since it wasn't the style I had in mind, and it was at the very top of my budget. However, I realized it would suit my needs. Now that I'm using it, I'm so glad I chose this desk instead! It feels well made, and even though it came without one part (not crucial but still important—a metal tube for the file cabinet), it's still spacious and solid. The assembly took me around three hours by myself, and while it was mostly straightforward, I did struggle a bit figuring out how to attach the sliding tracks for the file cabinet. The instructions suggested a method where you could detach the inner and outer tracks, but I couldn't figure it out. Ultimately, I just attached the full track to the drawer first and then secured it to the cabinet, which was a bit awkward but worked out fine. I hope Hawkins Woodshop can send me that missing piece, but aside from that, I'm pleased with my desk and think it's worth the investment if you're considering it.

Solid build
I put it together in about 2.5 hours and it feels sturdy with its metal frame. My only issue was that the top pieces weren't completely level, but I was able to sort that out easily with some washers.

I'm really happy with this desk! It comes in two parts—the main desk and a side piece, which is exactly what I needed. I was able to connect them too. The finish and color look great.
