Entryways take a beating. Coats end up on the newel post, shoes pile into a heap by the door, and the umbrella you needed this morning is somewhere in a closet. This rustic white piece absorbs all of it inside one 75 inch tall footprint, doing the work of seven separate organizers.

Start with the bench, which holds up to 220 pounds. That is a real place to sit and pull on boots, not a decorative ledge. Beside it runs a 4-tier adjustable shoe rack with 6 fixed compartments and 4 adjustable ones, 18 pairs in total once you count boots and larger sizes. A sliding barn-style door closes over the shoe cabinet and keeps dust off everything behind it. Above, seven dual-prong coat hooks handle jackets, backpacks, and dog leashes. There is also an umbrella stand, a top shelf, two fabric drawers, and five open cubbies for hats, gloves, and whatever the season demands, three shelves in all. Anti-tip hardware anchors the piece to the wall.

The LED strip is the part most people do not expect. It offers 16 RGB colors, adjustable brightness, four lighting modes, and a remote. It is also waterproof and energy-efficient, which means this unit is just as happy on a covered porch or in a garage as it is in a foyer.

Dimensions are 15.7 by 59 by 75 inches and the piece weighs 141 pounds, so it slots into a narrow entryway, hallway, foyer, or mudroom without eating the whole wall. Construction is wood with metal accents, a rustic look that still sits comfortably in a modern room. Assembly is required, but the parts are labeled and most people finish in about 1.5 to 2 hours. Grab a second set of hands for the lifting. It makes maneuvering the tall panels considerably easier, and it saves your drywall in the process.

Great entryway shelf!

Putting this shelf together took some time—there are a lot of steps, 52 in total. Luckily, I was able to do most of it by myself, but I definitely needed help lifting the top piece into place.
