A twin XL measures 80 inches long by 38 inches wide, five inches longer than a standard twin, which is why it is the size nearly every college dorm bed takes. This one is 8 inches thick and weighs 24.3 pounds, light enough for one person to carry up a stairwell and wrestle onto a bunk or a loft frame without help.

Firmness lands at medium. At room temperature the surface feels fairly firm, but it softens as it picks up body heat and starts molding to your shape. Weight then spreads across the whole surface instead of concentrating at the shoulder and the hip. That is the mechanism behind pressure relief, and it is why people who toss and turn tend to settle down on foam like this.

Three layers do the work. A green tea infused memory foam comfort layer sits on top, then a super soft foam in the middle, over a high-density base that provides the actual support. The green tea infusion keeps the foam smelling fresh over time rather than picking up the closed-in odor that untreated foam can develop. The foam is also ventilated, moving air through the mattress to pull heat away from the sleeping surface, which is a real consideration with memory foam. A poly jacquard fabric cover finishes it in white, with a tight top rather than a pillow top, so the surface stays flat and even across the whole 80 inches.

Every foam in the build is CertiPUR-US certified, and the fire barrier is cotton based. It ships compressed as a bed in a box, so plan to get it into the room first, unroll it on the frame, cut the plastic, and give it time to reach full height before you make the bed. A 10 year manufacturer's warranty covers it. The 8 inch profile is the practical choice for a dorm room, a guest bed, a bunk, or a kid's room, where a thicker mattress sits too high on the frame and makes the guard rail useless.
