Great chair after a simple adjustment.

I'm 6'2" and weigh 255 pounds, and this chair works well for me, especially once I fixed a design flaw. The assembly was straightforward with the screws and Allen wrench provided, plus they gave some extra screws. The instructions are clear, and there are plenty of videos online if you need help. Just be careful when opening the box; there's a cushion right under the cardboard. The chair feels sturdy—it has a reinforced steel base and the wheels are smooth and quiet, which is nice. My old chair used to leave me with a sore back (I have spinal stenosis), but this one is comfortable, and I don't have any pain. I really appreciate the adjustable lumbar support as you just press it to get the firmness you want. I can also get up with ease, using the armrests without worrying they'll break. On the downside, the headrest is a bit low for taller folks, and like other reviews mentioned, the chair leans back too much at 120 degrees when fully upright. It felt awkward and made getting out tougher, kind of like I was sinking in. After a simple tweak that takes about 5 minutes, I adjusted the angle to 108 degrees, which is much better. Now it's also easier to get out of the chair and I don’t have that pressure on my thighs anymore, which was an issue before. A tip—having a friend help with setup can make it quicker, and if the gas lift piston ever fails, it's an easy part to replace. Some people seem to think this chair is too tall for shorter individuals, but hey, it is a big and tall chair for a reason! Overall, after making that adjustment, I'm happy with the chair. It's a quick fix, and I didn’t take any stars off for it.

Great chair for relaxing

Super comfy and has plenty of space. It's for napping, and I can fit myself and my dog on it without any trouble. Putting it together was a breeze, took me under 20 minutes. The wheels glide smoothly, I could race with my friends! The only downside is that now I'm stuck with my old chair because my partner loves this one so much. If you play musical chairs, you might want to get two of these. Worth the price!

Great chair for everyone

I picked up this chair for my husband's birthday since he’s a bigger guy, and the last one I got him didn’t last long at all. Once we got it put together, we both had to take it for a spin. It’s super comfortable—just the right blend of firmness and softness so you can sit for ages without discomfort. I’ve got a fractured tailbone, so I’m picky about chairs, but this one’s great. The wheels are something else too; they glide so smoothly and quietly! I made the mistake of letting go after pulling it out from the desk, and it just kept sliding across the floor. Thankfully, I caught it before I ended up on the ground! Overall, it’s a chair for anyone, not just for bigger folks. Honestly, I’m tempted to take it for myself! If it fits into my budget later, I'm getting one. Oh, and it was easy to put together—always a plus! Just keep in mind it doesn’t recline fully; it has adjustable lumbar support and leans back a bit, but it’s not a full recline. That’s mentioned in the description, but it’s good to check.

A fine heavy duty desk chair; once the excessive chair-back lean is resolved...

Big and Tall Office Chair for Heavy PeopleI’m 6/2 and 255 – and this chair is just fine, once a serious design error is corrected. Pros:- easy to put together with included screws and Allen wrench. Includes two extra screws. Instructions are clear and there are numerous videos available if you need more. Be careful slicing open the top of the shipping box -- a cushion is directly under the cardboard; or, pull the shipping tape off.- appears to be solidly constructed. E. G., the 5-legged base is reinforced steel and the rubber wheels are smooth and quiet.- my previous desk chair resulted in an aching back every time I used it (I have spinal stenosis). This one is comfortable, there’s no back ache, and the adjustable lumbar support works by pressing the lumbar section of the backrest forward the desired firmness.- you can get up from the chair by placing your weight on the armrests, without fear of them giving way. Cons:- the head rest is too low to use as a head rest if you’re tall – this will be an issue for anyone over 6' as several customer reviews point out.- as many customer reviews cite, the chair leans too far back – 120 degrees (from the floor) while in the fully upright position; it felt unnatural to me; like I was falling backward and that made it more difficult getting out of the chair; as if you’re sitting in a depression. My other office chairs lean back 108 degrees +/-, which felt so normal, I never thought even about it. This steep backward lean angle is easily resolved (see “after” photo):... Lay the chair face down onto the floor... Loosen the four screws securing the seat plate... Remove the two M6 (3/4" long) screws holding the rear-facing end of the plate... Insert ten fender washers (or something else that’s 1/2" thick) under each screw as a shim, between the chair bottom and that plate... Reattach the seat plate using 1-3/8" long M6 (metric) hex head screws. This change will result in a chair-back lean angle of 108 degrees, the same as most other desk chairs. Perfect. It’s also easier to exit the chair, as the sitting angle is normal; plus it resolves another seat issue – the front of the seat would press up on the bottom of my thighs, making them semi-numb after a couple of hours (restricted circulation). It doesn’t do that now. This isn’t necessarily a permanent change to the chair, as these shims can be removed, decreased in thickness, or increased in thickness – according to tastes. Other:- having a helper available for assemble will make the task easier.- some Hawkins Woodshop reviewers said that their (bifma Class4 Gas Lift) hydraulic pneumatic shock piston started leaking after months or years of use. That piston is an inexpensive customer replaceable part. Search on “Class 4 Adjustable Gas Cylinder for Office Chairs” and select:... A 1000 lb. Rated piston... 9.75" (+/-) long tip-to-tip when closed... 1.1" piston diameter... 2" diameter tapered body... 4" piston travel length... Sgs certified. To remove the old piston, lay the chair over front down on the floor and tap on the bottom of the cylinder with a wooden mallet – it should pop right out.- some reviewers complained about the chair not fitting a shorter person; e. G., “I’m 5’ 6” and my feet lift off the ground in this chair.” Well, duh! It’s called a big and tall chair for a reason.- some reviewers complained about the chair tipping if they lean way over to pick up something off the floor – which most chairs might also do. Exit the chair or use a grabber reacher tool.- several reviewers complained about missing (M6 sized) screws, which are inexpensive and readily available at Lowes, Home Depot, Hawkins Woodshop or any hardware store.- one reviewer even complained about the screws being inadequate to hold it together. I don’t see that as an issue; the chair is solid.- one reviewer complained the “chair has super short arm rests”. Imo, the arm rests are fine. Summary:After the excess lean-back “fix” was applied, I really like the chair. This was such an easy and quick resolution (5 minutes, once the longer M6 screws and fender washers were purchased), no stars were taken off.

Great office chair

I’ve been using this chair for well over a month now and overall, I have been very satisfied with it. The chair was easy to put together and with their video instructions, it took about 20 minutes to assemble. In terms of comfort, the chair is firm, but very supportive and has a large leaning range. For the build quality, the wheels on the chair roll smoothly both on carpets and wood floors. The chair did not cheap out on cushioning adding support for your back which is great for long hours on the computer. The adjustable height and leaning range makes it easy to fit into different desk heights and room space. Overall, this chair offers great value for its price. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, durable office chair for daily use.
