The measurements are spot on. I'm impressed with the build quality. I have a disability, and I was able to assemble it with one hand! It looks fantastic too. Just make sure to line up the holes properly for everything to fit. At just 40 pounds, it's easy to move around. I'm currently using it for my Bibles and studies, and I have about 20 pounds on it in the picture. Once I get some bookends, I'll be able to add more books. This 55" bookcase is a winner!

Great bookshelf!
This is such a nice bookshelf. It looks good, can hold a lot of weight, and was easy to assemble. I had a lot of magazines, journals, and books piled up next to my bed. Since we have a heavy platform bed, I needed something that would fit without blocking my path. After clearing out some old magazines, I was able to fit everything next to my bed, plus a ton of books that were stuck in boxes. My room seems so much tidier now. My only minor issue is that the magazines don't stand up well since there are no solid sides on the shelves. We fixed this by using some boxes from work to keep the magazines upright. As we use those up, I'll just add bookends for my books. I'd definitely purchase these shelves again, just make sure to measure your space since the sides are open.

The measurements advertised are accurate. The quality of the build is excellent. The ease of assembly, well... I am disabled and was very able to put it together with one hand. I think it looks great! The alignment of everything is perfect as long as you pay attention to lining the holes up accurately. The weight is only 40 pounds, and it is east to move. I am using it for my Bible's and studies. I have about 20 pounds on it in the picture and once I get a set of bookends, I can add the rest of my books. It really is a great 55" bookcase.

Solid and sturdy book shelf
Bought this to hold my art supplies, miscellaneous office supplies, and my sewing machine. This definitely gets the job done! My sewing machine is one of those old 80's metal behemoths. Lesser shelves have bowed beneath its mighty weight, but not this one. This bookcase doesn't shake, has thick shelving slats that down bend under pressure, and it has a nice aesthetic. Assembly was fairly easy if you've ever put furniture together. One word of caution, make sure the holes on the vertical supports are on the same side when building the case. Only one side of each support has these holes, but the directions doesn't draw attention to that fact until a couple of steps after you've installed them. The holes are for the cross beams along the back of the case. If you don't put them all facing the same way, you will have to go back and correct it. Though the shelf is sturdy enough without the crossbeams, the extra structure is great if you plan on loading this shelf down.
