Pleasantly Surprised After Assembly
When I first opened the box, I wasn't sure about the quality of the wood—it seemed a bit off at first glance. However, everything was well packed, though I had to take it all out to follow the assembly instructions. After getting it put together and letting my family give it a try, including standing on the longer bench section, I can say I'm really happy with how it looks and feels. I used toothpicks to help align the dowels, and I did run into a little trouble with one screw on the angled back piece. I made the mistake of installing the screws from the top down on one side, which caused the top screw to slip. Switching to a deck screw fixed that. The other side went much easier when I installed from the bottom up. I'm thinking about adding some stained wood for extra support in the storage compartment, not because I need to, but just to enhance it a bit. Overall, it's a great product!

Building the bench does require two people, and I found I needed to drill a few holes deeper for some screws. The storage area underneath could be sturdier and probably wouldn't hold heavy items, but that's not a concern for me.
