Perfect Little Cutting Board for Small Tasks
This is a really nice compact cutting board. I needed something for slicing bagels, cutting lemons and limes, halving garlic cloves, and taking pieces of cheese off the block without using my huge 36 x 36 teak board. This fits the bill perfectly. It's a bit small for serious chopping, but you can chop a little parsley or herbs if necessary. Overall, it’s just what I was looking for.

We’re really happy with this cutting board. It's solid, stays flat, thick, and easy to clean. Plus, there are no microplastics to worry about. It's large enough for all our chopping without feeling cramped. I can’t imagine this thick wood warping unless you mess it up, like putting it in the dishwasher (seriously, don’t do that!). It also looks nice enough that we keep it out on the counter all the time. I’m doing a lot of wok cooking lately, so having a good board for prepping veggies is key. We won't use this for meat, but it’s our favorite for everything else.

I got this board back in 2013 alongside the 18" one, and I’ve been using it pretty much every day since. It’s my favorite of the two because it’s compact and easy to move around. Since it’s just me and my partner now, I usually cook in smaller quantities and don’t need a big prep area. I often set it up by the stove for easy chopping right where I need it while cooking. The trench around the edge is super useful for catching juices or keeping small bits like peels and stems contained. It’s lightweight, fits almost anywhere, and handles small amounts well. Plus, it doubles as a nice cheese board! Just remember to take care of it, and it’ll last a long time. I bought some board cream and oil at the same time to keep it conditioned; the Boos brand works perfectly for that.

This is genuinely the best chopping board we've owned, and I'm looking forward to using it for years. It's the thinnest option at Hawkins Woodshop, and I really prefer it this way; anything thicker would be a bit cumbersome for us. We love this board. It is solid, flat, thick, cleans easily, and there are no microplastics to deal with. It is big enough to do a lot of chopping on without getting crowded. I don't see a piece of wood this thick ever warping unless you do something crazy like stick it in a dishwasher. (Don't!)The board is also attractive enough that we just leave it out on the counter full time now. I am doing a lot of wok cooking these days, and a good board is essential in vegetable preparation. We do not (and will not) use this one for meat, but it's the go-to for anything else.
