The usual tradeoff in a kitchen board is knives versus cleanup. Plastic goes in the dishwasher but chews up an edge and keeps every knife scar. Solid wood is kind to a blade but has to be hand washed and oiled or it cracks. Wood fiber composite lands in between. It is gentler on knife edges than plastic, glass, acacia, teak, or maple, and it is still dishwasher safe when you are done.
The board measures 11.5 by 9.25 inches, sized for a counter where a full butcher block would be in the way. Both faces are usable cutting surfaces, so raw chicken can have one side and vegetables the other. One side carries a juice groove that catches liquid runoff, which is the side you want when you are carving a roast or slicing a ripe tomato. Flip it for the flat face when you are only chopping.
Removable silicone corners keep it planted on the counter instead of skating around while you work, and because they come off, you can clean underneath rather than letting food collect in the seam. A hole through the board lets it hang from a hook or a rail. The surface is non-porous, so it does not soak up onion and garlic the way an open grain board does, and the material is BPA free and LFGB approved. It is rated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, 175 degrees Celsius.
The natural slate tone reads like real wood, so it goes straight from prep to the table as a serving tray for cheese, cured meat, bread, fruit, or dessert. This listing is the small size.
