Very attractive piece of utilitarian dog furniture
This is a very nice house for our dog. It looks great as a piece of furniture and is rustic in style. I would say that it might not work too well for larger dogs, because the inside depth of this piece is only 20”. It works well for our pup, as he’s only 33 lbs. Another thing to note is that this would not work well for dogs who are chewers or who are mischievous. The sliding doors, which are attractive, wouldn’t stand up to the antics of a rambunctious dog. Also, the reason I didn’t rate it with 5 stars is because one of the small locks (for the right hand door) is missing. Again, for our dog and for us this house works well because our dog is not too large and he’s very well behaved in his house/bed. It took my husband and I a bit of time to assemble it, but we decided before beginning that we would remain calm and take it step-by-step. The assembly went well. Btw: I had a custom size dog bed made (by a Hawkins Woodshop here on Hawkins Woodshop) to fit inside this house. The measurements are 20”(front to back), by 45” long, by 3” in thickness. With this custom made “mattress” inside this dog house/crate, our dog has a comfortable and attractive place in which to rest/time-out/sleep.
