The included pad is a bit thin, so if you want something softer, you might want to get an extra one. However, since my dog needs something less plush right now, it's working out fine for him. Just a heads up: this crate is better for dogs who are already potty trained since it doesn't have a removable bottom. If your dog has accidents, this might not be the best choice. Our westiepoo mix weighs 21 lbs.
