Shockingly good for the price
I bought this to replace a short tv stand. I originally wanted a full size dresser and to raise my tv up high enough that the bottom wouldn’t be blocked by my feet and blankets while I was in bed. Since nothing that met those needs was available in my budget, I spent an absolutely obscene amount of time looking at dressers similar in style to this one, comparing looks, dimensions, drawer count and size, as well as features. One thing I didn’t realize I wanted when I started the search was integrated power. That single feature is such a quality of life improvement it’s still kind of blowing my mind that I hadn’t considered it a need sooner. Now, let’s get into the meat and potatoes of this review. It’s only 30” tall and 13” deep, so it’s not the tallest or deepest piece of furniture, but it does accommodate a 70” tv. Do note that the top has a weight limit in the specs of 88 lbs. It can likely handle a little more than that before sagging or deforming but I wouldn’t test that theory. It arrived a day early, with the box in pristine condition and enough styrofoam packing to bury a small country. In short, it was packaged so well that the manufacturers made sure that nothing short of a severe hurricane or tornado would be likely to damage it. 5/5 on packaging and delivery. Assembly was straight forward and the instructions were easy to follow, however, when attaching the frame pieces I’d caution you to double and triple check the instructions and your frame pieces to make sure you’re mounting through the correct holes and have the frames facing the right direction. There are four screws with large coarse threads that mount the cubby shelf to the frame. If you mess this step up, you can correct it, but just know that the wood is pressboard and it is not meant to have these screws removed and reinstalled multiple times. You can safely get away with it a few times but after that I wouldn’t expect the screws to be able to grab anymore. All other connections use machine screws and plastic inserts to secure the parts together, except for the cross bars which have threaded aluminum plugs to attach to the frame. The frames are made of very thin aluminum and it is possible to dent/ bend the frame simply by over tightening a screw. Once assembled, there is a slight front to back wobble which can be mitigated by using the included leveling glides (feet) as well as just getting weight on and in the dresser. For looks, capability, and features, this is really hard to beat at this price point. I was skeptical as to the claim of dresser in the product description, but after getting it assembled and filling the drawers I came to a shocking conclusion: it does work as a dresser for an adult. The sheer number of drawers simply means that you have to adjust how you fill it. I currently have 11/12 of the drawers filled, and I could probably get more in some of those drawers if I changed how I fold my clothes. The four center drawers can hold 3-4 pairs of jeans if double folded the way you’d find them on the shelf at a department store, but you could get 6-8 pairs in a single drawer if you folded them differently. Shirts folded normally fit in the smaller outer drawers with a surprising number of shirts; 8-12 per drawer, depending on how you fold them. For reference, I’m a 200 lb man, so hopefully that gives you a reference on the size of clothes I’ve been able to get into this dresser. So who would this dresser be for? Well, it would work awesome as a kid’s dresser being that it has such ample storage and is light enough to be safer than a traditional dresser if a kid manages to pull it over (I’d anchor some kind of retention strap to the wall if it was going into a baby or toddler’s room though). It’s also great for somebody getting their first apartment who maybe doesn’t have a large budget for furniture. The looks are so good that it works in both the living room and the bedroom equally. Does it completely replace a traditional dresser? I don’t think so. On the height and depth, it falls short in my opinion, however, it does supplement a full size dresser in ways that a lot of other bedroom furniture falls short of doing. Overall, I give this unit an 8.5/10, which in my opinion makes it a great value and shockingly good for the price.
