Pretty Good Console, Amazing Customer Service!
I picked up this media console in black and was happy with how quickly it got here. The box looked pretty beat up, but the console itself was safe inside with no damage. Everything arrived, including extra hardware, which is a nice touch. The assembly instructions were detailed and mostly easy to follow, although they could have used some pilot holes, especially when putting on the fireplace. Using a long magnetic screwdriver helped a lot, but it was still tricky. We found it easier to attach the fireplace before securing the top piece. The unit seems sturdy with plenty of dowels and cam locks. Just a heads up, the top is about 64” before you add the side legs. The black finish has a farmhouse feel with a bit of grain, which we like, but we weren’t fans of the chrome center poles for stability. One of ours came dented, so we put the worst one in the back and plan to paint them to match the console since they’re somewhat visible. The finish does scuff easily, even though we were careful on carpet, and we noticed some small gaps and cuts that might suggest it’s not the highest quality. It still looks good enough for us, but I might want to replace it eventually. Now for the best part—Hawkins Woodshop's customer service gets 5 stars from me! They reached out after my review and really took the time to address my concerns, which is rare these days. I listen to a lot of reviews before I landed on this fireplace tv stand. I wanted something not too big as my living room isn’t huge, but I wanted something. Also that would help my heater out during the winter and after reading a lot of reviews this all the parameters. I can say it was pretty easy to put together. My elderly mother came over and read me the instructions and help me get each part easily screwed the pins in and the cam locks were easy to lock everything into place very solidly. Let me tell you I’m a blind person and if somethings easy to put together, this makes things a lot better as I can do most of the work myself. I had listen to a review where somebody said make sure you get a long screwdriver to mount the fireplace into its spot. I did that and it was great advice. Make sure you have a long, magnetic screwdriver! It really would’ve helped had there been pre-drilled holes where the fireplace mounts but it wasn’t that big of a deal to power them through. I have a 75 inch tv setting directly on top of it and it’s very solid. I have to say I am very impressed with the product for its price and the fireplace puts out great heat. Can’t wait for winter to get here to see how much better it makes my living room heat up. 100% would suggest this product.

I am so happy with this tv stand! It looks great, and I love the fireplace insert. The color is true to the picture and fits a 50-inch tv nicely. The boxes came one day apart. The directions were straightforward to follow. I was able to build it alone, although it took me some time, and I needed breaks. I installed the fireplace before placing the top of the tv stand because it made it easier to mount the fireplace. The packaging was great, as everything arrived intact. I like that you can have the flame effects without using the heater and vice versa. There are three flame effects, so you can change how dim you want the flames. The heater also has a few options. When I turned on the heater, it had the typical new heater smell, but it cleared up quickly. The remote control is great, so you don't have to get up and is very responsive. The tv stand is well made and seems like it will last a long time. My only complaint is that the wood grain on two of the three shelves runs horizontally while one runs vertically. I wish they would all run in the same direction.

I bought this media console in black. The console arrived very quickly. The box had been badly beaten up, but the console was well protected and there were no broken pieces. All of the pieces and hardware (plus extra hardware) were delivered. The instructions for assembly were detailed with pictures. If the instructions are followed step by step, assembly is easy and straightforward-for the most part. There are areas that could have been aided with pilot holes since there are none. This is especially difficult when attaching the fireplace to the unit. A really long, magnetic philips screwdriver is your best bet- even then it is challenging. We opted to attach the fireplace before attaching the top which was easier than trying to do it after the top is bolted down. There are plenty of wood dowels and cam locks so the unit is probably fairly stable. The top of the unit is actually 64" before attaching the side legs/pieces. The black is not glossy, it is definitely grain exposed farmhouse style black. We did not like the center poles/feet that must be attached for stability. The poles are chrome and ours were dented, we placed the worst one at the back of the unit. We do plan to paint the chrome center feet black because the unit is elevated off the floor and parts of the center chrome feet are visible. The finish seems to nick easily even though we assembled on a carpeted surface. Not awful, but these areas will require a touch up pen. The bottom rail on ours is cut about 1/4" too short leaving a gap between the leg piece and the bottom rail- again not terrible, but it speaks to cheap manufacturing and poor quality control. It is noticeable to us, hopefully guests will not inspect it. This is not a bad piece of furniture and for the price it is ok, but I will probably replace this in the future. Update*** The customer service from this company is 5 big stars. I could not believe that the company reached out to me based on my review and addressed all of the issues I mentioned. In this day and age, it is rare to find a company so committed to customer satisfaction and concerned with product quality improvement. I have changed my initial review from 3 to 4 stars because this company exemplifies what customer care is all about. Thank you Happy Tao!
