This mattress is a very good value. It arrives fully compressed and is quite heavy for the size as you might expect. Once opened it rapidly expands to full size and off gasses a bit. Within an hour or so it has reached most of what it will be and can be slept upon. After 24 hours, the chemical smell is gone and the mattress is a tiny bit bigger. If you have slept on a gel/memory foam type mattress, you will know it is really comfortable and supportive--not bouncy at all. It also can be a bit warm to sleep on--retaining and reflecting heat back at you. This mattress winds up about 10 inches thick--quite a bit less than many super sized mattresses sold today which can be 15 or even 20 inches thick. The slim construction can be a positive in that it may fit where others can't--for example, a murphy bed. Also, this thickness can be easily augmented with a suitable mattress pad if you choose and still fit easily into pocketed sheets. I don't think the thickness makes any difference in the way it sleeps at all. Buying a mattress used to mean considering how long the mattress would last but at these prices you can easily consider replacing it whenever you want. In my experience, this type of mattress will certainly last as long as any other type including coil built. It's a nice looking mattress though naturally you will keep it covered with a sheet.
