Best Desk Ever – So Worth It!

I work full-time from home and also attend college, and I never realized how crucial it is to have a good desk until I had a horrible experience with my previous one. Back in August 2023, I bought a height-adjustable desk from another retailer for $160, and it was a nightmare. It came in two pieces and felt flimsy right from the start. No matter how careful I was, it would wobble and the wood split – it drove me crazy! I had to be so gentle using my mouse that it would often just stop moving because it was hanging off the edge. Fast forward to me selling that desk (somehow someone bought it!) and getting this one in the 55x28 size. Wow! The extra space makes all the difference! Setting it up took me about 45 minutes, and I genuinely can’t believe I didn't get this one sooner. It’s so solid and beautifully made. The top is one solid piece, and I can finally rest my wrists without worrying. This desk feels quality – it's hefty at around 90 lbs compared to my old one that felt like a toy. And no shaking while I type, which is a relief! Raising and lowering it is quick and feels sturdy. I waited for a sale and snagged it for $199 with a coupon, which feels like a steal. I’m actually excited to be at my desk now, unlike before. Seriously, don’t make the same mistake I did!

Best investment in a desk I've ever made!

This desk is incredibly sturdy! My previous one was a hand-me-down that was flimsy and made of pressed board. When I decided to upgrade, I wanted something built to last. I didn’t really need a standing desk, but after seeing so many positive reviews for this one, I figured it was worth it. Right out of the box, it was heavy and everything felt solid—not cheap at all! Nothing arrived damaged, which is impressive considering it came via FedEx (the delivery guys in my area don't handle packages gently). The instructions were easy to follow! Just a heads-up about assembly: I needed a drill for one part, like others have mentioned. The center holes aren’t there, so you’ll have to make them yourself, but it’s pretty straightforward. I opted not to use the hooks for my headphones as it suggests using a drill for that, but I found some extra holes that worked just fine. I took about 2.5 to 3 hours to put it all together by myself, but I was going at my own pace. It does arrive in two packages, but I was prepared for that since I read the reviews beforehand. The legs arrived first, and then the desktop the next day, which worked out well for me. The only thing I’d suggest is having two tracking numbers for the separate shipments to avoid any confusion if one package gets lost. There are four presets on the control panel, which is handy! This desk looks great, moves up and down smoothly without any wobbling, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a sturdy standing desk.

Great Quality and Solid Build

The desk came really fast! Unfortunately, the top had some damage, but Colby quickly sent out a replacement that arrived just a few days later. Putting it together was simple. The legs feel solid and have a nice thick powder-coated finish. Overall, it’s a good weight. I recommend picking up some matching cable management trays, which are sold separately. I noticed some other reviews mentioning wobbliness, but mine is stable, with no side wobble at all. The 1-inch thick top is great too. Just a heads up: as mentioned in other reviews, the screw holes for the middle bar aren’t pre-drilled, so you'll need a drill with a 1/8” bit. The desk also comes with two hooks for the sides, but those aren't pre-drilled either, and I decided to skip adding them.

Great Choice for a Sewing Table

I needed a new sewing table and this standing desk turned out to be just what I was looking for. Putting it together was pretty easy and took about 45 minutes. It helps to have a power screwdriver and a small drill, but it's not required. The height adjustment is solid and operates quietly, plus it has four presets—two for standing and two for sitting. You can also change the height manually with the arrows. The motor runs quietly, and the desktop moves really smoothly. It feels stable since the top is one single piece, which is great for sewing. The box it comes in is heavy, so you might want to unpack it and move the parts separately to where you'll set it up. Overall, I’m happy with this standing desk for sewing, and I'd recommend it.

A solid desk that's perfect for taller folks.

I was really impressed with the quality of this standing desk! It's sturdy and has a heavy, thick metal frame that feels like it’s built to last. The tabletop is one solid piece, which is hard to find at this price with other brands. It's nice and flat, smooth, and well made. The motor runs quietly and the adjustment is smooth, plus it stays steady even at its highest setting. Some reviews mention wobbling on other desks, but I wouldn’t call that the case here—maybe just a slight vibration that's hardly noticeable. A lot of people think the 24” depth is too shallow, but I actually think it adds stability, and if you use monitor arms, you'll have plenty of space without feeling cramped. It also fits through all standard doorways easily, which is a plus. For anyone about 6'-4”, this desk is great right out of the box since my arms rest perfectly on it when it’s at the lowest height. If you're shorter, you might end up needing a footrest or possibly think about adding a pull-out keyboard tray since there’s some under-desk space for that. The assembly instructions were clear and all the screws were labeled, making it easy to put together. The packaging was top-notch too. Overall, I’m happy with my purchase and just hope the motor lasts!

Great Desk for the Price, Awesome Customer Support

I’ve been using this standing desk for a while now and it's been a solid choice, especially for the price. I wanted to avoid spending too much on a standing desk, and this one fit my budget perfectly at around $150. I work a lot on my computer, and it's nice to alternate between sitting and standing. I've had it since April 2024 and adjust the height regularly—so the motor gets good use. It handles my two monitors, a 27-inch and a 24-inch, without any issues. I'm 5'10" and the height works great for me. The overall quality seems pretty good, especially the desktop and legs. Some may say the control panel feels a bit cheap, but I've never had a problem with it. The motor operates quietly, which is nice. The assembly was straightforward, and I had it set up in no time. It’s mostly sturdy, though there is a slight wobble at my custom standing height of about 41.5 inches. I'm not too sensitive to that though, so it hasn't bothered me while working. I did encounter an issue in May 2025 when one of the legs started creaking loudly when lowering. I reached out to their support, and they were quick to reply. Instead of just sending a replacement leg, they shipped me an entirely new desk! I appreciate that level of service. If I decide to upgrade later, I’ll definitely consider Hawkins Woodshop again.

Not ideal for shorter folks

I got the 48 x 30 desk, which fits my 24 inch monitor, 16 inch MacBook, a lamp, plus my keyboard and mouse. There’s still space for snacks and drinks too. It was $199.99, but I had a $30 coupon, so I paid about $184. Of course, the same desk was $159 on a flash deal the day it shipped, which was kind of frustrating. ASSEMBLY: Putting it together was easy. I had to drill two holes myself, and I ended up using my electric drill after a bit of trial. Total assembly time was about 1.5 hours. I’m 5 feet tall and can barely lift a 40-pound bag of cat litter, but this desk was light enough to handle. LEGS: The legs are an older style compared to a more expensive version, but they work fine and are quieter than my pricey standing desk at work. I didn’t buy this for standing, just wanted a nice desktop. The 30-inch width is great, and my armrests fit underneath without hitting. I did detach the remote since I won’t use it. The lowest height is still tall for me at 28.1 inches. My office chair doesn’t go low enough, so I use a footrest. There’s enough room to cross my legs, which is nice. Overall, it’s good quality, but not the best choice for short people like me.

I've had this desk for a few months now, and it's been a great addition. Honestly, the quality is way better than I expected for the price. I did a fair amount of research before deciding on this adjustable desk since there are so many choices out there. Despite seeing some not-so-great reviews, this one stood out to me for the value and customer service. I think if people had issues, maybe they rushed through the setup. I followed the instructions carefully, and it went smoothly. Now I don’t have back pain or sore feet from sitting all day. I was able to put it together by myself in about 30 minutes, and the assembly instructions were pretty straightforward. I was a bit worried about stability since I went with the 48” model, but it’s very sturdy even at its tallest setting. I had part of it on carpet and part on a hard surface, but it was easy to level out. I read some folks had problems with screws stripping when using a power driver. I prefer to do it by hand just to avoid any mistakes. For me, this desk has been just what I needed. I also had a small mix-up with my order size, but Colby was helpful in sorting it out. Overall, I can't think of a single reason not to recommend this desk or Hawkins Woodshop. If you're looking for a standing/sitting desk, this is a solid choice!

Not Ideal for Shorter Users

I picked up the 48 x 30 desk, and it's just the right size for my 24-inch monitor, 16-inch MacBook, lamp, and my keyboard and mouse. There's even space for snacks and drinks. I bought it for $199.99 but scored a $30 coupon, bringing it down to about $184. It was a bit frustrating when I saw it for $159 on the day it shipped, but I guess paying ten bucks more isn't too bad; just keep an eye out for those deals! ASSEMBLY: Putting it together was a breeze. You'll need to create two holes yourself, but that was simple. I originally tried using a nail but ended up grabbing my electric drill and made a small hole—nothing too deep. Overall, it took me about 1.5 hours to attach the legs and set it up, and I'm just 5 feet tall, so it's definitely manageable. LEGS: The legs on this desk are the older model. There's a version available with upgraded legs, but it comes at a higher price. The current legs do their job well and are pretty quiet—much quieter than my expensive standing desk at work. I mainly wanted this desk for the surface area; the 30-inch width is great! In hindsight, I probably should've just stuck with a cheaper non-standing desk since I like the flexibility, but my chair fits nicely underneath without any issues. The lowest height is still a bit tall for me at 28.1 inches. My office chair from Hawkins Woodshop doesn’t adjust quite low enough, but I make it work with a footrest. There's enough room to cross my legs, which I appreciate. Overall, this desk is nice, though it might not suit shorter folks like me.

Great Desk for Taller People

I was really impressed by the quality of this standing desk! It's sturdy and heavy, with thick metal construction. The one-piece tabletop is rare to find at this price and it’s flat, smooth, and solid. The motor runs quietly and everything operates smoothly. I’ve seen some say there’s wobbling in other models, but this desk is stable even at its highest setting—just a tiny vibration that’s barely noticeable. Some folks might think the 24” depth is too shallow for a desk, but that actually helps with stability. Plus, if you use monitor arms, you'll have enough distance between you and the screen without sacrificing desk space. And the 24” width slides right through standard doorways, which is a plus. If you have a big computer tower, it might feel a bit cramped, but for a mini PC or laptop, it’s. This desk is great for someone around 6'4”. My arms sit at a comfy 90 degrees when my feet are flat on the ground at the lowest height. If you’re shorter, you might need a footrest or to adjust your chair a bit, but there’s room underneath to add a slide-out keyboard tray if needed. The height for standing is too. The assembly instructions were easy to follow, with all the screws neatly labeled. The packaging was solid as well. Overall, I’m happy with it! Just hoping the motor stands the test of time.

I've had this desk for a few months now and it's been a big help. Honestly, it's way better than I expected for the price! After a lot of research on adjustable desks, this one stood out among the rest for cost, quality, and customer service. Even with some mixed reviews, I decided to go for it. If you take a few minutes to read the instructions before putting it together, you shouldn't have any issues. I suspect some people who had problems just rushed through the setup. Before getting this desk, I really wanted the flexibility to stand and sit during the day to avoid back pain and soreness, and it’s worked like a charm! I managed to put it together by myself in about half an hour, and the instructions were pretty clear. I was a bit worried about stability since I got the 48” version, but it's actually sturdy, even at the highest setting. I also noticed some feedback about using power drivers, and while the instructions suggested it for certain parts, I opted to use a hand screwdriver for better control. That way, I could avoid any issues with stripping screws. Regarding customer service, I'm genuinely pleased. When I first ordered the 40” desk by mistake, I went ahead and ordered the 48” and reached out to see about returning the 40”. They were helpful and stayed in touch throughout the return process. I can't decide what I’m happier with— the desk or Colby's service? Honestly, I don't have any reasons not to recommend this desk from Hawkins Woodshop. If you're looking into adjustable desks, take my advice and check this one out!
