Adorable and Sturdy Bed
I really love these beds! They are just what I needed after searching for quite a while. Putting them together was easy—my 3-year-old even helped out. The box was heavy, but once we took everything out, it was manageable for the two of us. All parts were included, and nothing was damaged. That's why I picked this over the $700 option from Crate and Barrel—I didn't want to have to repaint. It was easy to assemble, and with my husband's help, we got it done in about 15 minutes. I suggest using something to support the rails while you put it together; we used a couple of short step stools. The screws are visible on the ends, which I'm not a big fan of, but it’s still pretty good quality. I'm thinking of painting the screws to blend them in a bit better. About shipping, I initially got one box and not the other. I contacted customer service, and they explained that sometimes both boxes ship together but one might arrive first. They said to wait a couple of days for the other box, and it showed up the next day! My daughter loves her new big girl bed, and I'm happy with the purchase, especially for what I paid.

You're likely a parent reading this, comparison shopping a few beds for your kid. You like the design of this one but have another tab open with something similar for a bit cheaper. Thats cool, I get it. That was me too. This will be the review for you. I don't write reviews ever... But every time I tuck my kid into bed, I think "Agh, I need to write a review for this". Honestly this could pass as a name-brand high-end furniture maker. It is so sturdy and such a quality piece for the price. Was it easy to put together? I have no idea, I made my husband do it. But what I can tell you is that he did it in about 20 minutes or so, with minimal complaining. I also didn't marry him for his brains, so my hypothesis is that it is relatively simple to put together. The first few nights my daughter slept in this, she fell out. She'd roll off this thing like a twinky on a conveyor belt. This was her first "big girl bed" so there was a learning curve. Its a fairly tall bed, and the sound of her unconscious body hitting the floor multiple times throughout the night would make any mom uneasy. Not me. This bed is so cute, I overlooked the physical harm it was causing my child, put a few extra pillows down and we soldiered on. I love this bed, and I know once her concussion heals and her vision comes back, she will too. Jokes aside, this is probably the most high-quality item for the price I've received from Hawkins Woodshop.
