Perfect for my 4-year-old and has room to grow.

This desk is made from solid 1/2" birch plywood, and it works great for my child. I love that the desktop can be flipped to face either way. The chalkboard surface works well with chalk and protects against spills. The instructions were straightforward, and everything fit together nicely. I used an impact driver on the lowest setting, but it does come with an allen wrench if you prefer to do it by hand. Since it's real wood, you can easily customize it; I added a hinge so the desk opens like a traditional school desk. It needed a longer hinge and a thin board underneath, but it all went together really solid without glue. This isn't some flimsy desk you'd expect to throw away; it’s built to last. It’s uncoated, so you could stain or paint it, but I like it just as it is. The edges are all nicely sanded, and it’s comparable to much pricier kids' furniture. The measurements in the confusing photo are spot on; it’s 45 5/8 inches long.
