Great budget mattress
This mattress is comfortable, definetly not a bad option on a budget. I’ve been using it for close to a year, still maintains form no problem. If you have cats keep them off. You do not want animals picking the material, especially if you’re washing your sheets and it’s just the bare mattress. Also to clarify how it is shipped in case there is any confusion. It comes in a decent size box, actually seems kind of small especially if you order a king. You get it out of the box, it’s very tightly wrapped and vacuum sealed. As soon as you tear the plastic, it starts to decompress and takes around 24-36 hours to fully expand. So have some room available before you let it decompress and also make sure you do it where the mattress is going to be staying. This isn’t a typical mattress so moving it is an absolute pain especially if you have stairs.

Comfortable despite bad experience
I like a soft, plush queen mattress. I previously used a far more expensive foam layered mattress that I cannot match online. Most hotels use a medium firm and I find them stiff and horribly uncomfortable; I don't weigh enough for memory foam to be comfortable either, and as such I specifically wanted the mattress marked "soft". It was in stock, I added to my cart and checked out - but was not allowed to complete my purchase as an error claimed "the item could not be sent to my address". After much back and forth with several incompetent customer service people who claimed both that I could and could not buy the item, it would seem that Hawkins Woodshop placed an arbitrary restriction on some items due to the digital coupon available and that I could only purchase a mattress that was available locally in specific warehouse locations - information I have absolutely no access to order influence over. As there was absolutely no way of knowing if the "soft" mattress would ever be available and I was tired of sleeping on an air mattress I downgraded to the medium 10 inch and was able to purchase normally. It shipped per estimated time, packing was average, and I left it open overnight to inflate. It never expanded past maybe 9 inches (similar to other reviews) so it doesn't quite match the product description, but even that first day it was soft and makes absolutely no noise if I sit down, roll over etc. I have now been sleeping on it for about a month, and it's comfortable. It isn't particularly hot, even if the covers are warm, it doesn't move around and I sink enough to be comfortable but not so much as to misalign anything, much like a pillow. It is likely not good to sit on all day for wfh, but quite adequate for a good night's sleep for someone under 150 lbs (too many products just ignore anyone under 6ft or 200lbs). I have not noticed any sort of smell or unevenness, nothing to aggravate my allergies, and plan to rotate the mattress from the headboard to the foot end per instructions every 3 months. Overall I would recommend this mattress, as it meets my needs, but expect the soft version may have been even more to my liking. The difficulty in actually placing the order cost a star, as I would give Hawkins Woodshop a 2/5 for not letting me access the product I originally wanted.
