Much Better Than Expected
I was moving on from a big IKEA coffee table and wanted something nicer without spending a fortune. This table is way better than I expected. The material doesn’t feel like the cheap stuff from IKEA—seems like it's made from better wood. I got the gray one and it looks really good. It's got some weight to it, so it doesn’t feel flimsy. Putting it together wasn’t too bad, but those IKEA-style screws can be a pain. There are a few small gaps in the table because of them, but nothing serious. Just a heads up, it does wobble a bit if you pull it from the edges, but for the price, it’s not that big of a deal. I should mention that assembling it alone was tough. Once you start adding the brackets, it gets tricky. Overall, I’m happy with this table. It’s nicer than I thought it would be. A bit tricky to put together solo, but I’d buy it again if I needed something on a budget.

Good table and good price
I picked up this table because I liked the lift-top design. The first one I got had some damaged screws, which was a bummer, but when I contacted Hawkins Woodshop, they were really quick to reply. They didn't have replacement parts, so I had to pay $60 to send back the heavy 70-pound table. But they worked it out, sending me a prepaid label to return it. Once I sent the broken one back, they shipped me a new one right away. Putting it together was easy and I'm happy with it now. The table feels sturdy and is a great deal. I'm giving both the table and Hawkins Woodshop five stars. I'd buy from them again. Just a heads up: you put it together upside down until the last step when you add the top.

Smooth lift mechanism and great height
I've had this coffee table in my living room for a couple of months now, and it's made a huge difference for my TV watching. The lift-up feature is just what I needed! It's perfect for enjoying meals while watching TV, as it raises to the ideal height for dining comfortably from the couch. No more awkwardness with a low table or balancing plates on my lap. The lift mechanism operates smoothly and feels solid. There's no wobbling when it's raised, so I can eat and cut food just like at a regular dining table. I'm impressed with how well designed this mechanism is. Assembly was a bit trickier than IKEA furniture for me, but maybe that's just my lack of handy skills. The final product is worth the extra effort. Just be prepared to spend a little more time on it than you might think.

Solidly built table, pretty straightforward to put together
I’m really pleased with this table. It showed up at my house with some box damage, which made me nervous about the wood inside, but it was well packaged and in great shape. The instructions could be a bit more straightforward; I found it helpful to lay everything out before starting. All the pieces are labeled, which makes it easier. You need a second person to help with assembly, especially when putting in the metal hinges for the lift top. There are quite a few screws, so a third person to keep the top steady would help too. Once it was together, the table looks and works well. The extra storage under the lift top is useful for stashing stuff away. I’m happy with this purchase and would recommend it to others.

We really take our time when buying things online and read all the reviews. This Lift Top Coffee Table from Hawkins Woodshop is just like everyone says: it's a nice-looking and sturdy piece that came in shape and was easy to put together. We're pretty happy with it. There's a video that shows how to assemble it step-by-step, and watching that is a good idea even if you’re used to putting furniture together. Most parts are the same, so just follow the steps closely to avoid mistakes. Everything came packed well, and there were extra pieces for the fasteners. The only tricky part was getting the springs on the lift brackets, but using some pliers helped a lot. We also find it easier to use some soap on small screws when installing them. Just a couple of things to note: getting the label off was tough, and the foam packing was a bit messy. Overall, we were nervous about the low price, but this is a great buy.
