My guests have really enjoyed this bed so far. When it's closed, it looks like a nice dresser and doesn’t take up a lot of room. Add a good foam mattress and it’s comfy. I had a couple of larger guests stay in it, and it held up great. The build instructions were clear, which helped a lot.

Great space saver
If you're tight on space, this might be what you need! I've been using this bed for a few weeks now, and it's really beautiful and sturdy. The materials feel like they'll hold up well over time (I’ll keep you posted if anything changes). I'm a fan of cabinet-style murphy beds instead of the pull-down ones. They take a bit longer to set up and need to be secured well, but in our experience, they hold up better with daily use. Plus, the cabinet has some nice built-in storage which is a plus. The drawer fits our two pillows, a smaller comforter, and sheets just fine, and it rolls out smoothly and quietly. Just a couple of heads-ups: assembling it can take quite a while, I’d say around 4-6 hours if you’re tackling it solo. The instructions are pretty clear, just make sure to get everything lined up right. Also, the drawer works best on flat surfaces; if you have a rug, you might need to lift it a bit to roll over it. This bed needs a tri-fold mattress, so keep that in mind when shopping—gotta stick to ones that are 6” or less, but there are some good options. One last thing: to access the locking mechanism on top, you have to lift the panel, which means clearing off anything you have there. We just keep a couple of plants on top that are easy to move. Overall, this bed looks great and saves space. I recommend it, especially the queen size. Just be aware of a few quirks with this type of murphy bed. Oh, and delivery was a bit late and went to the wrong address, but that’s on them, not the bed!

Almost perfect solution
If you like your space, this may be the option you are looking for. I definitely recommend it, but there are a few things you should be aware of before you buy. We've been using this bed daily now for weeks. First, let me say this bed is absolutely beautiful and sturdy. The parts used during construction seem like it will last for quite some time (I will update my review if this changes). I prefer cabinet style murphy beds over the standard pull down. While the pull-down style offers better use of your vertical space and speedier set up, they also need to be anchored much more securely, and they (mostly the pistons and your mattress being stored vertically) don't seem to hold up as well with daily use. At least this has been our experience over 20+ years. Also, the cabinet style offers you built in storage. This drawer is a good size. We are able to keep our 2 pillows, a smaller comforter, and sheets in it. It rolls both smoothly and quietly. There are things you need to be aware of though. First the assembly. How long will it actually take? I have built everything in my home and very familiar with kits like this. My time isn't going to be the average. I would guess what the average person should expect is between 4-6 hours. Doing it alone. Take your time and do it right. Instructions are clear enough, just line everything up as pictured. Next, that drawer I love works best on an even surface. The wheels roll great, but if you change levels, like going from laminate to an area rug, you will need to lift a little for each wheel, or it can catch on the rug depending on the thickness. Or just remove the obstacle when in use. This bed requires a tri fold mattress which limits your options to 6" or less. There are several good ones out there though. Lastly is the top. Be aware you lift the panel to access the locking mechanism of the cabinet. As such, it is not a perfect design. If you keep things on top, you will have to remove them every time you open in or you will have to choose to leave it folded open like a shelf which shows the mattress. It looks much nicer closed, so we only keep a couple decorative plants on top, easily moved. One other thing of note, is that the plug is a straight plug into the wall, meaning the bed won't be as close to the wall as you'd prefer. I simply got a reliable 3ft extension cord with a flat plug to solve this. In summary this bed looks great, saves space and functions well. I would recommend it, probably the Queen size. Just be aware of the pros and cons to this style of murphy bed. Perfect for us. The only real negative was Hawkins Woodshop. They missed the delivery date by 3 days and then it was delivered to the wrong house. For that they get 1 star, but I wasn't going to punish the bed for them.
