Great mattress with a different feel. Perfect for our spare room.
This gel core mattress was a pleasant surprise. It’s neither overly firm nor overly soft. Instead, it has a dense, supportive feel that’s completely different from a traditional pillow-top or stuffed mattress. It definitely takes a little time to adjust if you’re coming from a conventional innerspring mattress, box spring setup, or even a futon. Once we spent some time on it, though, we both realized just how comfortable it really is. We bought this for our spare room, but my wife and I have both found ourselves going in there just to read on our Kindles because it’s such a comfortable place to relax. That’s probably the best compliment I can give a guest room mattress. I’ve never personally tried a Purple mattress, but I noticed several other reviewers making that comparison. I can’t confirm that myself, but I can say this mattress has a unique feel that sets it apart from most others. It really is unlike a typical mattress, and that’s a good thing. It takes a few hours to 'inflate' but you can likely sleep on it same night. There is no bounce or spring to it and it might even pass the "egg" test but you can try that, I can live without confirmation. Very easy to set up. One of the biggest surprises for me is that it doesn’t aggravate my sciatic pain at all. The support is excellent without feeling hard, and I can easily see most people getting a great night’s sleep on it. If you’re open to something that feels a little different from a traditional mattress, this one is absolutely worth considering.
