It's soft and thick, and it made a difference for our often uncomfortable RV mattress. It came vacuum packed, but I just followed the instructions, shook it out, and tossed it in the dryer – it fluffed up beautifully with no weird smell at all. Just a heads-up, it’s quite fluffy, so a big front-loading washer is probably needed. Be sure you want it, because getting it back in the shipping box would be tough! I'm even thinking of ordering one for our regular King bed!
