Great hidden guest bed!
I spent some time checking out this listing and reading through the reviews before finally deciding to go for it when it went on sale. First off, it’s pretty heavy—two boxes worth. One box arrived a bit banged up, so we took a bunch of pictures just in case there was any damage (I've seen other reviews mention that), but thankfully everything was in perfect condition! My husband and I agreed to work together without bossing each other around while we unpacked everything. If you can, assemble it in the room where it will stay; it makes things easier, especially if the space is cleared out as much as possible. We just shoved everything against the wall to make room. The assembly steps have you working on pieces that connect to each other, so it helps to have them close by. Having two people was useful. It took us about 5.5 hours to put it together, mainly because we wanted to be careful with everything. If you attempt it solo, maybe plan for a long weekend, or consider hiring someone if that works for you. The end result looks nice—I opened and closed it a few times to see how smooth it was. Just a heads up: you can’t place anything on top of it when it's closed, as it’ll fold back when you open it, so it’s best to keep that clear if you plan on using it often. We used a 6-inch foam mattress, which feels firm and seems good, but I also got a topper for some extra comfort. My husband mentioned that it would have been easier with an electric drill since there are a lot of screws to turn, which can get tough on the wrists.

This bed is solid! I'm used to assembling furniture myself, but this one was a bit of a challenge. It took me around six hours to set up, and I definitely needed some help. It came in two boxes, and let me tell you, one was so heavy that I had to open it up outside and carry the parts in one by one, even with a dolly. So yes, it's quite heavy. We got it all set up and guests used it right away. The color doesn't fully match my other stuff, but I like the pretty white faux wood grain; it captures that farmhouse vibe, so I’m not upset about it. The instructions were mostly easy to follow, although they could be clearer—I had to take it apart and reassemble it three times in a few places because I mixed some screws up. I love how deep the drawer is; it’s 15 inches deep, for storing extra blankets and pillows for visitors. Overall, I’m happy and excited about this purchase!

Outstanding product and Hawkins Woodshop!
Very happy with the engineering and the quality of this product. It was a perfect fit for a multipurpose room and blends in quite well. I have put together many pieces of furniture and the instructions were the best I've seen. I does take a while to assemble(my wife and I did it in about 2 hours after organizing all the parts/pieces), but that's a small price to pay for the value. The bed is heavy in total. If you have to assemble it on a different level from where it was brought into the house, I highly suggest breaking it down and taking several trips. You'll thank me later. The finish is on the fragile side, it won't hold up to abuse, but it is good for our purposes and will last if treated well. Be careful to not hit the edges sharply, it will chip. My only suggestion for improvement would be to make it possible to install the supplied outlet on either side of the bed. This could be accomplished by simply cutting a hole on both side panels to give us a choice and then include a filler to cover the hole that isn't used. I am only mentioning this because the way we have it placed, it is too tight to a side wall and makes the outlet unusable, not a big deal, but this option would have made it close to perfect. The bed arrived in two different deliveries as stated, sadly, one piece was damaged buy the shipper, not Hawkins Woodshop. Hawkins Woodshop was extremely easy to deal with, communicated quickly and resolved the issue without delay. I'm happy to praise good customer service, good design, good value and especially good instructions. Well done.

This cabinet is easy to put together, just takes time. We found it didn't nearly take as long, only about 2 hours with 2 people. But instructions are straight forward. The cabinet is very beautiful and works well but perhaps the best part to me was their customer service. There we just a couple of things I reached out about and they are super prompt to respond and willing to help out. 10 out of 10, no.. 11 out of 10 would buy from this Hawkins Woodshop!

Awesome bed
I love this bed. It is beautiful and functional. This is the perfect addition to our office/guest room. The bed arrived very packed well. I will say though that the boxes are very heavy even for two older people, so just know if you are alone you will more than likely need help to move the boxes. This murphy bed was a little time consuming but easy to put together. It probably took us roughly 4 hours to put it together going slowly and reading the directions, which were clear and easy to follow. There is also a video in this comment section if you need additional help. The slides pull out easily when rolling the bed in and out. There isn't anything about this that I don't like. Every screw hole and anchor hole was drilled precisely in the spot it needed to be. We were given enough hardware to accommodate everything. All in all I would definitely recommend this bed to anyone looking for a murphy bed to save on space. I bought a 6" trifold mattress that was recommended by one of the other readers which proves to be very comfortable and good quality as well.
