Ok this bed jumps off the page for me at how more stylish the actual bed is than in photos online! Easy to put together - sturdy - solid - structurally silent! I have put together many-a-bed like this one, so I knew it would take me no time to put together. So I challenged a buddy of mine, just to see how long it would take a first-timer, following the enclosed directions. It took him 17 un-hurried minutes! I must admit, the included instruction sheet is not the best! But, just open it all up, look at what you have to work with, and it'll all make perfect sense! So... This headboard has classic lines, could be a little thicker (front-to-back), but has a very refined look. The beauty of this linear look in the headboard, is that I can literally work with any other design shapes and styles in the room, without distracting from or to another piece in the room, or in the artwork. This is not a busy look! I generally do not get too excited about the upholstered sideboards, but these are beautifully tapered and really add a continuity to the simplicity of the bed as a whole. There were several comments in previous reviews about the bed slats being "splintery". I did not run across this at all. They are raw wood, unfinished... However, we were able to handle without gloves with no problem. I plan to use this bed with a hybrid coil/foam mattress, with no box springs... And the height is absolutely perfect with my 12" mattress, which admittedly has expanded to more than 13". The slats and base of this bed more than securely support the mattress and body weight. There are no squeeks whatsoever. I would for the simplistic style and for the money spent, I would give this bed an absolute 10 out 10, with two thumbs up!!
