This queen size Murphy chest bed folds away to double as a farmhouse style dresser, making it a practical choice for bedrooms, home offices, or any multipurpose room that occasionally needs to sleep a guest. Built with a reinforced framing structure and premium smooth pull-out rails, the bed locks into place with a dedicated holding device so the frame stays stable whether it is folded up for storage or open for movie nights and gaming. The cabinet's inner hidden compartment is sized to hold a foldable mattress, keeping the bedroom tidy when the bed is not in use.

Storage is built into every part of the design, starting with an extra large bottom drawer fitted with metal handles for stashing pillows, bedding, books, and clothing. A charging station is built into the unit as well, with 2 USB ports and 2 power outlets so phones, lamps, laptops, and other devices can charge right at the bedside. The bed arrives in 2 separate packages that may not reach you on the same day, and all necessary tools come labeled along with instructions for assembly.

We’ve really enjoyed how comfortable and convenient this Murphy bed is. It serves as a guest bed, and both of our guests have been pleased with it. I’m not sure it would hold up to everyday use, but for our needs, it’s been great and much more affordable and simpler than a traditional Murphy bed. The assembly instructions are clear, though it did take me about 6 hours to put it together. We picked this one mainly for the storage drawer and charging ports, which are definite perks compared to other options. So far, the only downside has been that the drawer fits a bit snug, and the rubber pads underneath tend to get scraped off. Overall, we’re happy with it. I’d recommend using an impact screwdriver to make assembly smoother—it’s not a must, but it helps!

Heavy but looks great

This thing comes in two big boxes, so get help to carry it. Assembly took a while with just me and my wife, plus our 8-year-old helping out. I finished up after work with those tiny screws for the hinges. The pre-drilled holes weren't great, and a few screws stripped out. But once it was together, it looks fantastic. We've had three couples sleep on it in just three weeks, and no one complained. I wish the storage in the front was bigger for the mattress pad, but we just put that in the closet instead. Overall, it’s a solid buy that doesn’t take up much room in my office. I'd buy it again, but I'd probably pre-drill the holes a bit more for the screws.

The quality is really good, and it works well. I liked that they included extra parts with it. Just a heads up, it took me an entire day to put this together, and I used an electric drill and glue. It’s a lot of work, but for the price, it’s solid. Just a pain removing all the stickers and residue.

Super Happy with This Murphy Bed

This Murphy Bed is just what I needed. I'm using it every day, and it's been working out great. It's in a small room, but it looks nice enough to fit in other spaces too. I got a 6-inch foam mattress, and it fits perfectly. It transforms from a stylish vanity to a full-size bed in under two minutes. The bottom drawer is spacious enough for pillows, sheets, and comforters all at once. It arrived in two fairly heavy boxes. I took my time unpacking everything, and I found that using a low-powered screwdriver is best—just be a bit careful to avoid damaging the screws and bolts. There are a lot of pieces, but I was able to put it together by myself in about 4.5 hours without rushing. The instructions were clear. I caught this during a sale, which was an added bonus, but I would definitely buy from Hawkins Woodshop again for other rooms. It's sturdy and looks like a solid piece of furniture. Will try to share some photos later.

Nice bed but tricky to assemble!

The finished product is really good! Just a heads up, you'll need two people, an electric screwdriver, and maybe even a degree in engineering to get this thing put together! Make sure to have a flat pack expert on hand and set aside a solid 5 or 6 hours for assembly. I managed to shear off a couple of screws just trying to get them in, so be careful not to force anything. Once it's all put together, it looks nice and feels pretty solid. I’m using it in a guest room, so it won’t see daily use, but I’m not sure it could handle frequent open and close since some parts are made of pressboard and might not hold up well over time. Overall, I’m happy with my purchase, just be cautious about the assembly and stick to the instructions. I’m giving it 4 stars because the setup is quite the challenge.

Nice Build, Just Be Prepared!

This took me pretty much a whole day to put together by myself, and the instructions were mostly easy to follow. The product arrived in two heavy boxes, so if you can’t lift 100 pounds, definitely get some help. The pre-cut and pre-drilled pieces were done perfectly, and there are a ton of parts—thankfully, everything was labeled clearly. Make sure you have at least a 10x10 space to lay everything out, and I highly recommend having a battery-operated drill to speed things up. I set mine to level 6, and it worked well without stripping screws. The rollers on the pull-out sections glide smoothly on our tile floor. I'd rate the assembly difficulty about a 6.5 out of 10; if you're familiar with DIY projects, you’ll be fine, but I wouldn’t recommend this as your first build. One thing to note is that the metal slides for the pull-out areas need to be disassembled and used in two different spots, which isn’t clear in the instructions. But you’ll figure it out if you run into that. Overall, I’m impressed with it—it's larger than I anticipated, but it will serve its purpose well. I think it’ll hold up for a long time. Just a heads up, it doesn’t come with a mattress, so you’ll need to grab a trifold, Japanese, or air mattress separately.

Looks great, but heavy to move

Wow, these two big boxes are no joke—bring a buddy to help! The assembly took a while with just my wife and our 8-year-old pitching in. By the time I got home from work, my part was about 15% left, mostly just attaching the little screws to the hinges. The pre-drilled holes weren’t perfect, and some screws ended up sideways or stripped, which was annoying. But when we finally finished, it looked! We’ve had three different couples crash on it already in the first three weeks, and they’ve all liked it. I do wish the front storage was a bit bigger to fit the mattress pad, but we made it work in the closet instead. Overall, I’m happy with this purchase; it takes up minimal space in my office and feels solid. I’d get it again, but I’d probably drill the holes a bit more for the screws next time.

Pleased with my new full size bed

I just finished putting this bed together. The instructions were clear, and I took my time working through each page, only pulling out the parts I needed at the moment. It took me around 5 hours, but that included a little tidying up afterward. It feels pretty solid. I used my M12 impact driver on the low setting, and one screw head slipped while attaching the latch. Overall, I'm really happy with the price, the look, and the quality. It doesn’t handle rolling over a rug edge well, but I'm planning to get wall-to-wall carpet soon. Just a heads-up, you need some space to assemble it. My mattress will arrive next week. This bed is going in my gong recording studio, and it won't see much use. It'll mainly serve as a table for my singing bowls.

Sexy, but heavy as hell

Two large and heavy boxes --- bring a friend! The assembly was long and arduous with just my wife working on it with an 8 year old helping so take that into consideration. Once home from work i had about 15% to complete and that was the tiny screws that go into the hinges. The "pre-drilled" holes are nominal and with the cheep-ish hinges quite a few of the screws went sideways/stripped. Forcing my way through all of that though once done, it looks terrific and we have had 3 different couples sleep on it in the first 3 weeks. Not a single complaint. I do wish the storage in the front was wider so we could fit the mattress pad in there, but such is life and we shoved that into the closet instead during storage. All in all a great buy that takes up "little" room for it's convenience in my office. It is fairly solid and I sure as hell don't ever want to move it from it's current spot. I would buy again, but would probably pre-drill the pre-drilled holes more to help the tiny screws.

Quality, Easy Assembly, You won't regret this purchase!

After three weeks of research, I chose this Murphy bed, and I’m so glad I did. One of the things that helped me decide was the clear, detailed assembly video provided by the company. It showed the entire process, not just short unboxing videos from customers. I wish I had made a video myself, so people could see how well thought out the company's process for assembly and packing was. As a 68-year-old woman, I was able to assemble the entire bed myself with no help. The photo directions were good, but I referred back to the video a few times when something wasn’t completely clear. All of the pieces were good quality, everything lined up properly, and extra screws and assembly pieces were included. Once assembled, it looks like a quality piece of furniture in my home. I bought a 6" tri-fold mattress and it fits comfortably inside the compartment, with room to spare. For the price, quality, and helpful assembly instructions, I would highly recommend this Murphy bed.
