Customer Reviews
Cheap materials, flimsy design.
Update 7/29 - The company reached out to me to try and rectify the issue. They were very helpful and the replacement part came pretty quickly. There were no screws included so I tried to use the old ones. After putting the new piece in place, I noticed that one of the pre-drilled holes didn't align properly to one of the hex screws so I couldn't put a screw there. The two cam screws that went through the previous piece were both broken so I couldn't re-use them, but the new piece seems sturdy enough without them. So while qa might be an issue, the company was still helpful and tried to fix the issue which is more than what I can say about many other companies. The color looks nice and I like the simplicity of the desk. Original: This is overall a decent desk. It's flimsier than I expected though. I wanted a simple desk, not a flimsy one. It'll work for now. I write technical manuals for a living and a couple of their steps could've been separated to make it clearer but overall it's useable. My biggest complaint is the cheapness of the wood itself. I knew this wasn't the top of the line desk but I also didn't think the wood would also just fall apart. My issue was the the long screws that the round screws latch onto. They either weren't long enough or the instructions weren't correct. They large screw wouldn't latch onto the long skinny screw, but when it did it went through the top of the wood desk. The desk was completely together by the time I flipped it over and noticed. I'm not going through the hassle of disassembling it to return it. I'll fix it myself somehow. I cannot recommend this desk though. For the price it should be better.

Bought in 2021 and still awesome!
2025 update! Still 5 stars. My gaming son is using it and tbh I actuality want it back lol. Still in great condition... He's pretty careful but he's also a young adult gamer. All we have noticed is the joints are a little out of alignment now; when we move it's going with us for sure and we'll be tightening them up then. I'm confident it'll be able to go back into place without trouble. The top layer has not let us down either. Tl,dr: still a great purchase and with a little tlc it will last quite a while! Bought this in Jan. 2021 and I’m still in love! It hasn’t been moved since then and I took really good care of it. Top is very scratch resistant and is still lovely. It was a pain to put together with all the pieces and screws but I assume that’s how it’s packed to be shipped…so that’s the only thing I can say negative to be honest. I didn’t even remember to leave a review when I purchased it but I am now because this is the first time I’ve taken it apart to move it into another room. You have to be careful taking it apart so none of the metal bends at a bad angle. I still love this desk!

Shockingly nice, solid desk. Need to know how to build things.
This desk beyond surprised me. I've put together lots of "box" furniture that comes in a million pieces with instructions and usually, the quality is pretty low. Not the case here. The legs and support beams were shockingly heavy duty. I weigh 200lbs of pure man muscle, and honestly I think I could stand on this thing. I'm not going to try it, but I think it would be just fine. One thing I will say is you kinda need to be somewhat handy if you want to assemble this quickly, and I highly recommend using your own tools instead of the little one's provided. It comes with a mini wrench and a 5/36" allen wrench/phillips head screwdriver combo (one end is a phillips head, other end is 5/36" allen drive). Of those, the only provided tool that I used was the mini wrench. I used my own screwdriver and an electric drill gun with a 5/32" allen bit to screw in the bolts (I included a pic of the bit so people can see, it's a pretty standard size). There are a lot of bolts. If I was twisting and twisting the little provided tool to screw those things in I think my experience in building this desk would have been substantially more frustrating. With the drill gun? No sweat, they all zipped right in. I built it in maybe 30 minutes. Once assembled, this thing is a beast. I said I weighed 200lbs earlier and added a joke to that, but honestly, as a rock climber I'm in relatively good shape and fairly strong. Flipping this thing over by myself once it was put together was, well, not hard, but I legitimately am not sure if my girlfriend could have done it on her own without scratching the table or putting a hole in the wall and slamming it down. So, if you're not particularly skilled at building things or if you're not particularly strong, I would recommend asking a friend for help. I also highly encourage using a drill gun w/ the bit I included a picture of. It will save you lots and lots of time. The actual desk? I bought it for the same reason you are probably reading this review. I have to work from home now, and I didn't have a desk or "office", just a gear room for my climbing and skiing gear. I moved some things around, put up some shelves, and ordered this desk to fit in a corner. It looks amazing, feels solid as a rock, and the adjustable feet are an absolute must. My house was built in the 1920s and has the original hardwood floors. They are not exactly level, but with the adjustable feet I was able to get the desk perfectly level and sturdy. Zero complaints from me, but I could see how some people could complain about assembly if they didn't have the tools. Still giving it 5 stars though because I've never considered it a manufacturers responsibility to provide you with tools...

Versatile, study, pretty easy to put together
This desk is of an amazing quality for the price. I work from home full-time and needed a "real desk" for my home office. I use two computers - desktop and a laptop - interchangeably, so I needed quite a bit of space. The size of the room also dictated an L-shaped desk. This works perfectly. It's made of solid, quality materials (the desktop is laminated mdf, I believe) and is relatively easy to put together. Two caveats: 1) Leave the screws a little loose until everything is put together, then tighten everything down. You'll thank me later! 🙂 2) The instructions can be confusing until you realize that the steps for short side left/long side right, and the steps for long side left/short side right are mixed together on each page. Once you figure that out, it should take one person 30-45 minutes tops to put this together. It's lightweight enough to lift and move by yourself. Also, I'm 6'1" and 190# and when I laid down on top of the assembled desk, it didn't squeak, "give," or seem like it was under any stress at all. Finally, I'm amazed by the design of this desk. Whoever came up with the reversible elements that make this work with the long side on the left or right is a stinking genius! Definitely worth the money and little time it took to assemble. Very pleased!

Wrong part? Defective? / Fixed the issue!
So I wasn’t going to finish assembling the desk until I got feedback. So far no response. My reason for taking off stars was because one of the part “6” came in faulty. The instructions shows to to connect part “11” with part “6” as you can see in the photos that part “6” doesn’t have a hole for me to align the part “11” with. I checked the other parts incase I misplaced a part where it shouldn’t be but that wasn’t it. I was planning to just drill a hole into but before I did I found out that the top screw that goes into part “6” to align with part “8” is in the way of entry. After two days I decided to assemble it all together. The desk looks goods although with faulty part it’s just there hanging still. I feel as if this effects the sturdiness of the desk because I did the bump test and wobble test and everything shakes easily with light items. Overall, decent desk for its price. Just a bit disappointed on the faulty problem. That’s my reason for reduction of 2 stars. As for Hawkins Woodshop I can’t say much as they haven’t replied(yet). If it helps any, the small side of the desk, that wall is 47 1/2 inches long and there is trim around the bottom as well about 1/2 inch wide. Update: They contacted me back and and sent a new part #6 and #11 and installed them when they arrived. A lot more sturdier now, happy with my desk!
