Good beds, but assembly can be tricky
I think some of the confusing reviews out there are because people don't realize what they're looking at in the photos. The Rumi beds look like two separate frames bolted together, but they're actually just one piece. Also, the parts fit really tight, so sometimes it seems like they don't match up with what you got. I'm 81 and I needed a rubber mallet to tap the slats in and line up the screw holes. Once I had a hammer to force things into place, the second bed went much smoother. After that the screws threaded in by hand just fine and the ratchet they give you works great. Just be careful removing the ratchet - jiggle it side to side, don't twist it, or you'll strip the holes. Stay focused while you're putting it together. These beds are solid and don't off-gas like new wood furniture sometimes does. The lower frame is sturdy and quiet. I use a 1" topper on the bottom to keep my mattress from sagging between the slats and to hold my sheets. Let it air out a few days first. I like how firm the platform makes the bed feel, and the price is good.

If you're in the market for a bed frame, you should definitely check out the Zinus Rumi. I purchased the Queen size and I'm impressed with how sturdy it is compared to my old, creaky frame. No noise at all when I move around on it, which is a plus. The assembly was pretty simple, but I recommend watching the guide video on a laptop while using the paper instructions since they're not the best with part labeling. Noise Level: Product Performs as Advertised!
Package arrived in good condition, upon opening and inspecting all materials and hardware were accounted for. Clear and simple assembly, made easy with provided tools and instructions. Once fully built and bed was placed on top of frame, which fit my full mattress like a glove, virtually no noise was made from the frame while I was sitting up and down on it. Vertical movement proves to be virtually silent, very nice! Little tip if you have hardwood floors like myself, to avoid the frame from creaking under horizontally applied movement (think sitting on the bed and rocking back and forth), I would recommend placing a small wedge of a material that slides smoothly over the hardwood floor, yet still provides some semblance of grip on the floor. The rubber feet grip too well, causing the feet to remain in place as the legs of the frame lean to one side causing a creaking noise. I literally cut up and old sock and used dryer sheets for the middle. Worked like a charm, bed now makes little to no noise when horizontal movement is applied. Awesome! Would recommend to anyone looking for a budget friendly and sturdy bed frame, this is it!

Wonderful beds, sometimes misunderstood
The reviews of these Rumi metal beds are a bit strange, as if different people are reviewing different beds, though it's the same bed. I think there are two problems. 1. The photos look like two small beds that get bolted together, but that's another bed. The Rumi ones just look like that but the two things that look like two beds are just one construction. 2. The parts fit so tightly that it sometimes looks as if the parts don't go with the bed that you received. I'm 81, and I couldn't have put my bed together without the help of a rubber headed hammer that let me hammer the slats in and force some of the screw holes to align. With a hammer helping me to force things into where they should go, I found it pretty easy to make my beds, especially the 2nd one. When things were aligned, the screws started in smoothly and easily by hand and they went in smoothly with the ratchet. The free ratchet is a wonderful tool, but it was important to remove it by jiggling it back-and-forth in the same position, but not turning or twisting it at all, because then you could strip something. It was important to keep aware of what was going on. I think these are great beds, without the formaldehyde off gassing from all new wood, glued or not. And the lower ones are sturdy and quiet; I don't know about the higher ones. I have about a 1" topper on the bottom to keep my no-springs mattresses from dipping between the slats, from sliding across the metal, and to hold my sheets in place. I let it off-gass for a few days before sleeping near it. I like the platform effect for a firm-mattress feel. The cost also is great.
