Just What I Needed
I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and fit of this headboard. Also it was refreshing to get something from Hawkins Woodshop that was not made in China (it's made in Vietnam ). It is solid wood, not your typical pressed sawdust and sturdy. There were more pieces than I expected so assembly took a bit of time. The instructions suggest a 2 person assembly but I had no problem doing it alone (would have been faster with 2). The instructions were all in pictures with no words but were very detailed and complete; no problem following them and getting it together correctly. Only small issue is they use a cam lock system to hold the pieces together (as do a lot of furniture manufacturers)). Not a big fan of this system. The cam lock nuts are made of "pot metal" and break easily; I broke 4 of them during assembly. They provide 3 spares in the package, so I was short one. However an email to customer support and they sent me 2 more via FedEx. I have pine furniture in my bedroom and wanted a headboard to match. This one was listed as pine finish and it was a good match to the pieces I already had.

Solid Headboard
Loved the headboard was solid wood and not particle board. Headboard was sturdy and solid after being put together. Headboard took around a hour to assembly. I'm not a big fan of using cam lock nuts for assembly and 2 cam lock nut broke with another being defective. Luckily the manufacturer sends 3 spares. Overall a good quality headboard and would have done 5 stars if not for the cam lock nuts.

I chose the King Window Pane in black. Assembly was easy. It is quite substantial weight wise making it sturdy and with a very nice smooth finish. Our mattress n foundation is fairly tall but the headboard extends high enough to show a little above the pillows when they are leaned against it. We use a platform frame so there were no holes to attach the headboard legs. But with the platform and mattress braced against the headboard it does not wobble. I added four silicone pads one at the bottom of each leg and one at each top corner to protect the baseboard and wall. It worked out perfect. The quality and solid construction material was worth the money. This was for a guest bedroom and I would definitely buy again!
