Not every room has space for a real office. This one is 31.5 inches long and only 15.7 inches deep, narrow enough to slide against a bedroom wall, tuck into a dorm alcove, or sit under a window without eating the walkway. It stands 31.1 inches tall, ordinary chair height, so whatever dining chair or task chair you already own will pull right up to it.
Two fabric drawers hang below the tabletop with wood fronts facing out. They are open on top, so you reach in rather than fighting a slide mechanism, and they swallow the things that otherwise pile up on the surface. Chargers, notebooks, pens, or brushes and palettes if the desk ends up doing vanity duty in the mornings. A storage bag comes with it too, which is handy for the loose odds and ends you would rather not see.
The top is P2 particle wood board, half an inch thick, finished in rustic brown and rated to resist scratching, denting, and water. In practice that means a coffee mug set down without a coaster or a pair of scissors dropped point first is not going to ruin the desk. The base is black metal with powder coated hardware. Steel brackets tie the frame together, so the desk does not rack sideways when you lean on one corner.
Adjustable leg pads let you level the top on a floor that is not quite flat, which old houses and thick carpet both tend to demand. The feet are non-slip and anti-scratch, so the desk stays where you put it while you type, and it will not gouge hardwood when you drag it a few inches to the left. Assembly runs about 20 to 30 minutes with the instructions and tools already in the box.
Finished, the desk weighs 16.3 pounds. Light enough for one person to pick up and move alone, which counts for a lot in a small room where the furniture plan changes every few months.
