No assembly guide included, and some of the screw holes and bracket mounting points aren't predrilled. Not sure if they're supposed to be there or not, but it's something to watch out for when you're putting it together.

Sturdy. Perfect for small space.
I needed a very small workbench (14” max depth) for miniature modeling in my very small den/library. This is the perfect size, and sturdy. I can clamp lamps and magnifiers to it, and it has absolutely no wobble or shakiness. It is all solid wood – no veneer, no particleboard. It is not fancy. The finish is rough in places, and there are flaws in the stain. The top surface is just wood – no screw holes are visible. The top surface on mine is made of two boards glued together along the centerline. There is no space between them like you might see on an outdoor bench – it is one smooth surface. You do see the heads of the screws on the lower part. At this price point I hope no one is expecting “fine furniture.” This is maybe one step above a quick diy piece, with the key point being that I did not have to diy it myself. It is perfect for what I need, and a nice rustic look that suits my use and style. It went together very easily using the enclosed screws and Allen wrench/screwdriver. There were two “extra“ little brackets and screws for them, but no pre-drilled holes where they should go. I believe they are to add stability. I would put them beneath the bottom board, connecting to the crosspieces, if you were going to use this for sitting or standing on. I didn’t bother, since I will have virtually no weight on it, and it’s plenty stable the way it is. A very important point for my use is that the legs are inset a little from the ends and sides, so I can walk past it with less risk of breaking a toe. Been there, done that, not eager to repeat it. Of course, that means it’s a little less stable. If someone were to sit right on the end, the bench could flip up. Solution: Don’t do that. This would be a great bench for taking off your shoes in a mudroom, or even a place to set towels or sit in a bathroom (not in the shower), or for dressing and putting on shoes in the bedroom. I don’t know how the finish would hold up to outdoor use, but a patio or garage would probably be ok. For indoor use I expect it will last a lifetime. There’s really nothing on it to wear or break. It would also make an excellent little coffee table in a small space or low end table next to a futon or chair. A really versatile and inexpensive little piece of furniture.
