Great tatami mat at a good price!
I'm really happy with this purchase! The quality is impressive, and I even like the grass smell. It's comfortable and looks nice in my space. The size is spot on. It arrived quickly and was simple to unwrap, plus it's easy to shift around and store. The back stays put on hardwood floors too. I highly recommend this mat!

Awesome budget tatami!
I got the foldable version and the support under my futon is just right. It folds up easily and is pretty lightweight, plus the quality is solid. I didn't notice any strong odors. When I first took it out in my room, there was a light smell of grass, but honestly, I love that smell, so it didn’t bother me at all. Now, I can hardly smell it unless I'm doing yoga and my face is right up close to it. Maybe some mats come with fresher grass that has a stronger scent? I think this mat is built to last; the weave feels sturdy and flexible when I step on it. Overall, I'm really happy with this tatami!

Great quality and comfort
I’m really happy with this tatami mat. I used to sleep on a standard box spring, but it felt like it sunk too much and messed with my back. Since I’m Japanese, I decided to try this traditional way of sleeping. The mat is solid and quite a bit softer than carpet; it feels great on my feet. I planned to put a futon on top, but I ended up sleeping just on the tatami mat one night, and I had a good sleep. I mostly sleep on my side, so it was a little tough on my hips, but I think a futon will make it much better. Overall, it’s a sturdy mat with a good weight, and it folds up easily. It's as a bottom bed piece, yoga mat, or even just for standing. Just a heads up, it does have a strong bamboo smell when you first open it, but that went away within a day.

This mat is solid and well-constructed. It had a pretty strong grassy scent at first, but honestly, I prefer that over any chemical smells from plastics. It's sturdy and works great with a nice futon for guests in smaller spaces. This foldaway Japanese style is way nicer and comfier than having someone crash on the floor with a blow-up mattress.

Sturdy and well-made mat
This mat is heavy and sturdy. My son, who's 18, wanted a Japanese-style futon mattress, so we got this mat to go underneath it. We're hoping it keeps the mattress from getting damp underneath. The mat does have a smell, but it’s not bad—just earthy and a bit grassy. It was quite strong at first, but after a couple of weeks, it's faded some. However, when you walk into his room with the door closed, you can still catch a whiff of it. I think it’ll just become part of the house smell. I don't mind it though. My son has pretty bad allergies, mainly hay fever, and I was worried it might irritate him, but it hasn't affected him at all. The mat is really firm and stiff, so I wouldn't suggest sleeping on it directly, but with the futon pad on top, it's pretty comfy.

Sturdy and classy.
At first, there’s a pretty strong grassy scent, but I prefer that over the chemical smells from plastics. It's well made and sturdy. Paired with a decent futon, this mat creates a nice setup for guests in smaller spaces. It’s a foldable Japanese style that looks better and feels cozier than just laying someone down on an inflatable mattress.
