It is a little softer than I expected for a medium-firm mattress, but it's still very supportive. You sink in a tiny bit at first, but then it becomes firm, and the sinking is only where you're laying. It's very supportive for both back and side sleeping. The only downside is that the edges don't feel very supportive. If you roll onto the edge, it sinks down quite a bit and can feel like you're going to fall off. This definitely takes two people to lift because the box is super heavy. It comes shrink-wrapped, rolled up, and much smaller than you'd expect. I recommend putting the mattress on your bed frame first, unrolling it, and then cutting the plastic. As soon as you cut the plastic wrap, the mattress expands really fast, so it's much easier if it's already in place. There was a slight chemical smell when I first opened it, but it went away within a few hours. It also took a few hours for the foam to fully expand and for the mattress to firm up. After it fully expanded the mattress was very tall, which looks nice. Overall, this is an good quality mattress for the price. We use it in our guest bedroom, but it also comfortable enough that I’d use it for an affordable every day mattress.
