Just Right

Exactly what we were looking for; it looks great! We bought two of these for our Chihuahua and Yorkshire Terrier. We tossed in a comfy pad at the bottom to keep the wood nice, so their beds and blankets fit perfectly. We also attached a food and water dish, plus we have puppy pads for when we're at work. My chihuahua is fine while I'm gone, but my female terrier needs it. Overall, this housing unit is perfect in terms of quality and practicality—simple to set up and it arrived quicker than we thought!

Great Crate with Chewing Fixes!

We got the large crate for our two small dogs who share the space, and we love how it looks compared to the old wire crate we had. It's actually like a nice piece of furniture! Putting it together was a breeze — doing it solo was fine, but having an extra person around made it easier. One of our dogs loves to chew, so we took some steps to make it last longer. We grabbed some 1/4 inch hardware cloth from the local hardware store, and 10’ x 2’ fit perfectly; we just had to trim it a bit for length. The #8 x 1/2” screws worked great since they fit snugly in with the cloth. We installed it during assembly, but you could do it after — just be ready to spend some time in the crate! I’ve seen others suggest plexiglass, but I found the hardware cloth kind of simple. Just make sure to drill pilot holes and wear gloves since the metal can be sharp. Overall, we love how it looks in the living room; it’s practical and pretty. Plus, our cats enjoy lounging on it to watch out the window! The only minor thing I'd mention is the hinge system. It’s a peg system that doesn’t leave much clearance at the bottom, so the door drags a bit when opening and closing. We just lift it slightly when using it and might put a handle on the door to make it easier. We're also thinking about adding an anti-fatigue mat for extra comfort and to dampen noises when they move around. I definitely recommend this crate. We’ve only had it a few weeks, so we’ll see how it holds up, but so far, we’re happy with it!

Great pick!

I’m really happy I chose this for our golden retriever. It’s just right for him to sprawl out and relax. It looks nice and was a good deal compared to others I checked out. We’ve had a lot of visitors compliment it too!

I picked up a large and a small crate table from Hawkins Woodshop a while ago and just got around to putting them together and using them. The sizes are great! The larger one is perfect for my Pit Bull who sleeps there every night. She can walk in without any awkward movements and can stand up straight, turn around, and get comfy. The small one is shared by my two older lap dogs. They’re 15 years old so they don’t jump around anymore; one sleeps in the back and the other near the door. They’ve been crate trained for ages, so this setup isn’t new for them. These tables replaced those bulky wire crates that my Pit Bull would scratch herself on. Now, their crates also double as tables which is useful! Here are some pros and cons: Pros: • It’s a crate that serves as a table—such a smart idea! • It doesn’t look bad like typical dog crates do. • Great for anyone with limited space since you get more use out of it. • The tables are sturdy. Cons: If your dogs have been in traditional crates for a long time like mine, it might take some time for them to get used to these new tables. They’re a bit puzzled that their "beds" look different now, but they catch on quickly! One thing to note: if your pets aren't used to crates or you're thinking of crate training a puppy, I wouldn't recommend these right away. They’re tables first, and messes could damage the wood if not cleaned up immediately. Regular crates are better for those initial training steps. Since my dogs have been trained for a while, I didn’t have to worry about that. I haven’t looked into liners to cover the bottom yet, but that might help prevent any damage if it fits snugly. Overall, I hope this helps anyone considering these tables!

Great-looking crate for a nice price

This crate is a fantastic deal! It looks just like the pictures and was easy to put together—everything, from the instructions to the hardware, was straightforward. The crate is mostly made from real wood, aside from a few panels on the bottom, likely pine or rubberwood since it's made in Thailand. I didn't see any issues with the finish; the stain and poly look good. Just a heads-up, though—if your dog isn’t crate trained and gets anxious, this might not be the best choice. If your pup wants out, they can get out. If you plan to crate them while you're away, I’d suggest a standard metal crate instead. Initially, I thought about making a custom crate to match our furniture, but when I found this one, the stain was close enough, it’s real wood, and at $205 with tax and free shipping, I figured it was worth a shot. I would have spent more than that on materials to build my own, and this saved me time and money. Overall, I’m pleased with my purchase. My 85-pound Rhodesian Ridgeback loves it, and I’m glad I went with this option!

I got both a large and a small crate table from Hawkins Woodshop a little while ago and finally put them together. They’re just the right size. The large one is perfect for my Pit Bull; there's plenty of room for her to walk in without ducking or anything. She can turn around and sleep comfortably. The small one works for my two older lap dogs (they're about 15 years old), and they’ve settled in nicely. One dog likes the back, and the other prefers to be near the door. They’ve been crate-trained for years, so they know the routine. These tables are a great replacement for those big, clunky wire crates that my Pit Bull often scratched against. Now they can hang out in style! Here are some pros and cons: Pros: • They double as tables, which is such a clever idea! • They look much nicer than typical dog crates. • Great if you don’t have much space since they have multiple uses. • They are sturdy. Cons: If your dogs are used to regular crates like mine, it might take a bit for them to adjust. They’re used to just jumping in when I call them, and they seem a little confused about these being their new 'beds.' Also, I wouldn’t recommend these for those who have pets that aren’t already crate-trained or for puppies. Accidents can happen, and I can see how a spill could damage the table. Regular wire crates are better for those starting out with crate training. I personally didn’t worry about liners since my dogs are older and trained, but having something that fits snugly might help with clean-ups. Overall, I hope my thoughts help someone out there!
