Best furniture project I've put together
This has been one of my best purchases in a while. My office is pretty small, but my dog is always in there with me. He's getting older and needs a safe spot when I have to step out. I wanted something big enough for him to sleep, eat, and move around in. The 86.2" crate is exactly what I needed. It even works as a desk when I pull up a drafting chair since it's tall enough. The instructions are clear and easy to follow—assembly wasn't a headache at all. It's a sturdy, solid piece and looks really nice too. Give yourself about 3 hours and don't rush it. The fit is snug, which keeps everything solid, so you have to be patient and try different angles instead of forcing anything together. Two people would make it easier, but I did it solo. I'm 5'6" and average strength, so moving it around wasn't a problem. My dog is a 106lb Czech Shepherd and he's got plenty of room to stand with space above his head and turn around easily. He jumped right in after watching me build it. It gives me real peace of mind when I have to leave him. The door locks are solid too—no way he's getting out. I set it up as one big space to maximize room, but it comes with a divider if you need two separate areas, and even those would be roomy for two dogs.

Great for tall dogs
The dog crate looks really nice! I'm not great with assembly so I had someone put it together for me — took about 2 hours. After almost a year of using it, I wanted to come back and say the quality is holding up great and it matches my floor nicely. One thing to know: since it's open on the sides, shedding can be an issue if your dog sheds a lot like mine does. Hair got all over the wall behind it, so I had to put something there to protect it. I have another crate with a closed back upstairs and that one's way easier to keep clean. Also, the metal finish needs regular wiping to keep dust off. My dog was pretty clever and figured out how to unscrew some bolts near his food bowl — he actually escaped into the family room one night, which was funny but not ideal! We ended up putting bike chains on the sides to keep him in. He also bangs his toys against the metal and after 30 minutes the noise gets old. All that said, I'm happy with it. It's sturdy and solid quality, even for my 100 lb Rottweiler and his quirks.

Haven't assembled it yet, but I'm impressed with how solid the materials feel. After I unpacked everything, I noticed the assembly instructions weren't in the box. I reached out to Colby asking if they could send me a printable version, and they got back to me in just a couple hours instead of the 72 they said it might take. Got the instructions printed and they look straightforward. If you've put together furniture before, this should be pretty simple.

Big enough for my pitbull and he loves it
This thing has been a game changer for us. My full size pitbull has plenty of room to stand up and move around in it. The latches all lock up tight with no issues. Been using it for a couple months now and I'm still really happy with it. It's a large item so make sure you have the space, but that's what we needed. The shelf on top is great for keeping his stuff organized.

Got this kennel for my 95 pound German shepherd who needed plenty of space to move around without feeling squeezed in. It's holding up great and looks solid. Really happy with the double locks on the top and bottom - my previous kennel only had one lock up top and my dog figured out how to pop it open with his tongue pretty quick. No chance of that happening here. Overall, the fit and size are exactly what I was looking for, and the build quality is good.

Great kennel for my pup
I have a 95-pound German shepherd, and I needed a kennel that could accommodate his size while giving him enough space to move around comfortably. This one has worked out really well. Really nice crate! It was a bit tricky to assemble, but that might be on me for being tired. I have a large pit bull, about the size of a full-grown lab, and she fits comfortably, able to turn around and stretch out. I’ve got her in one side and my blue healer mix in the other; she could probably do backflips if she wanted! Overall, I’m impressed with the size and how attractive the crate looks. Not thrilled with the latch style, but it'll work for my dogs. I’ll update later on how it holds up with my lively pups.

Perfect size for our furry dog
Perfect size for my Dog!! I have a Labrador that is almost 90 pounds and he fits comfortably and still has a little room to place his toys on the side. Crate needs to be assembled and can take more than an 1hr. Is metal so is an stable material and also wood. Only complaint is that is getting a bit rusty in the front area in the doors. Besides that, it has been a great addition to our Living Room and the design matches or room decor.

Great pen, and Great customer support
I received this penin terrible condition. The box was bent, damaged and a 12" hole ripped in tge side. The hole was big enough for the entire hardware package(screws, nuts, etc...) to fall out, which it did. So there was no way to assemble the pen. This was not the fault of Hawkins Woodshop, it was the fault of fedex. When they took their delivery photo, they even positioned the box to hide the damage. Hawkins Woodshop was awesome! They worked with me to find the best, fastest way to resolve the issue. They sent me a new hardware pack right away which contained all of the missing pics. Great customer support! Regarding the crate, it's really nice. Assemble took a while, because there are a lot of parts. But the instructions were good, so it wasn't difficult. It looks great, is sturdy and has a real cool feature where the end panel rotates to maje it easy to get to the food and water bowls. Edit- 21Sept2025Still love the crate, and its holding up very well. The one note I would make is that it is an odd size. I like to put a plastic or metal tray in my crates, in case there is an accident. There are absolutely zero trays that will fit this crate. Thats disappointing.
